Pulled up to a stop light and smoke was rolling from under the hood right down the road from my house. Pulled in shutdown immediately and lifted the hood. Something is smoking on the right rear cylinder head if you are standing in front of the car looking at it by the master cylinder. With what I heard took no risk of driving it and not being covered under warranty. Being towed to Lebanon Ford as I type this now. Hope it is nothing serious. Was time for oil change but didn't want it like this.

It doesn't take much oil to get smokey. The stuff that burnt off just from greasy mechanics hands was surprising.

"Dealer called and said my car is all fixed up. He said it was definitely an assembly issue and the seal was not correctly positioned. I guess the mechanics were surprised it made it 1400 miles like that. I asked if it caused any other damage and he said no. You guys may want to look closely for leaks around your valve covers. Even though my car was leaking a lot of oil, I never saw any on the ground because of the underbody covers."

There have been a few instances of leaks involving the valve covers, the edge seals and the O-rings which separate the spark plug tube from the rest of the cylinder head.

To the valve covers, if installed with too little tension, they'll leak. To much, the cover can warp, creating a leak.

Regarding the seals involving the spark plug tubes, if one slips during assembly, it won't seal well and can eventually begin leaking.

I looked for more examples but could only find the threads I'd commented in earlier. This was an occasional issue in the 6Gs.

It's a good reminder for everyone to take a good look at the top side of their engines and valve cover areas in-particular.

Hopefully, this is all it is. :please:

Glad you noticed early-on and pulled over quickly.
