Well, after a month of ownership and a few washings (washing a car is always where I found the problems) I can say the build quality on my car is pretty good. The only issue I had was the clocking of the passenger side wiper. It sat too high on the windshield. It was a bit of a booger to pull off but with the help of a two jaw puller, it’s good now. With that being said, I have to say that the panel gaps, paint quality, interior stitching, leather, and door panels all fit pretty good! It’s still early in the ownership but I give kudos to the guys and gals on the line. 👏👏👏

when you replace UAW workers with robotic welding, robotic painting, and reasonably current manufacturing processes you can make a good car.

Machining and materials have jumped light years in just a few years, the precision and tolerances of current machining methods were unthinkable 40 years ago.

But all that can be defeated by accountants who look at an additional $1 per car cost when you are making 45,000 cars a year and decide the change is not cost effective.

Also things like government mandates for fuel economy has manufacturers using oils that will make the C.A.F.E. and EPA happy, and hold the car together during warranty, but give very little reliability after that

I still say that outside of the 5,0 Coyote most of Ford's engines are garbage

And what is with plastic intakes and oil pans?

+1 ... Have had my Ecoboost convertible for 6 months and 3300 mi. It has been "issue" free - no rattles, squeaks, driveabilty or "other". The quality, reliability and performance are as I expected. I added a different floor shifter, paddle shifters, a few low dollar cosmetic mods and floor mats. I expect it will be trouble free for a few years, before it finds a new home

All the light metals and plastic pans and trims come to you c/o your EPA line-up wide mileage constraints.

Actualy its about cost.

Also the same people that bitch about plastic intakes and oil pans are the same people that bitch about the cars weight. This forum is full of arm chair QBs who think they could engineer and run a car company better.

Materials have developed considerably since the days 'everything had to to be metal'. Plastic oil pans also reduce noise. Plastic intakes have better thermal management as well as reduced costs.

$45,000 per $1 saving is pretty good value. Of course car makers look for savings. Or they could just charge you more of course?

Cost and weight savings. It's not just Ford.
True, and it is cheaper to make than say cast aluminum that has to be machined or stamped steel that has to be painted and have a drain plug bung welded into it.

The biggest issue I have still with my GT Premium is the cheap B&O stereo. Even when I upgrade the sub-woofer, and the door speakers, it's lousy. The exterior is good, but the interior could use better materials on the dash, doors, and seats. Ford can find a way to S-can the 2000 RPM Coyote rattle, upgrade the exhaust sound, and make me feel more on par with the new Charger upscale build.

Definitely not. There is a reason they switched back to metal pans on the 4th gen coyote.
Not according to other sources than you. 2db reduction in noise apparently is common.

Ford dropped them because of sealing and durability issues but plenty of others use them without those issues. Ford still use plastic on many engines where there have not been such issues.

Not just me. Pretty much every Gen 3 coyote owner on the 6G forums.

I can vouch for this, my 2018 Edge Sport, had the glue on oil pan leak twice, and it took an over night or 2 visit so the glue could "set". They finally figured out that a gasket and a few screws was the way to go. I think my Bronco which has the the 2.7 also has a metal oil pan.
