To @samson post ...

Why would you want to increase the salaries with 40% when the folks don't even recognize that they have put in two different seats.... 🤣 as it is in this case

sorry had to.......
And don't forget the 32-hour work week too! Well deserved apparently!

If they don’t look into the plastic bags they come in the only way to tell is a like 4”-6” sticker to be fair.
Aight I got to PDI my own car and took a look at the bag and THERES A VIN ON IT. so maybe it was a fuck up by supply? That or whoever put the stickers on. Thinking Adient since it says on there😂

I can see someone overlooking the seats, especially if they were covered with plastic. I've been cursed with OCD and unfortunately, I'm very detail oriented. I had the privilege of touring the Corvette plant in Bowling Green several years ago. One of the things they constantly emphasized during the tour is quality control. Each completed Corvette is examined under very bright light to look for flaws in the paint and other things. When I took delivery of my '16 Z06, the very first thing I noticed was a fisheye in the paint on the front bumper near the hood. I really think they allow minor flaws and issues to "slip through" final inspection with the intent of having the dealer correct them under warranty. To have pulled my car off the line and sent it back for paint correction would have been time consuming and probably expensive. I know when we spend our hard earned money on something we expect perfection, but in today's world I'm not sure that's attainable. There's always going to be something that manages to slip through the cracks regardless of quality control.

Having perfection definitely isn’t optional anymore. If you truely drive and enjoy your vehicle it will show that you do and that’s what enthusiasts should appreciate.

Seats are interesting… the passenger seat is put in 100 yards down the line from the rears and the driver seat.

So they got out of sequence, imagine a conveyer of hundreds of seats… multiple conveyors actually and they are sequenced to hit the car in the correct order hundreds of feet apart.

Now if for a second the line stopped or it somehow got out of sequence… but rarely if ever can that happen

But in a new launch… they may have actually been out of seats or waiting on recaros shipment… so the build the car to keep it moving and mark it to manually get the seats later on rework.

Just giving ideas of how this could happen … most likely it was offline repair work.
Don't forget that seat are wrapped with plastic, therefore, material handling operator cannot see the seat, they only see part number or just scan a bar code. In any case, I would blame the seat company supplier for placing the wrong bar code on that seat. No final assembly line.

Okay, so, when before the customer receives the car would be a good time to realize that the car had the wrong seat? I’ll answer that…..
That would be final inspection pre shipment. We know how well that works already.

I work with people that have worked in the car manufacturing space and from what they've told me Ford actually has pretty good quality control so its surprising to see something this egregious get through.

Noup! Pre-delivery inspection made by dealers is the one that remove the covers.

Pre-shipments only checks that is leaving to the right place with all accesories such as a floor mats, papers among others. They don't do quality inspections.

almost glad mine won't be built till after the strike... Maybe they'll care a little more when building it.
Guess they are going by plants. Hasn’t hit the mustangs yet. Maybe they will still have time to get more of these built

to be honest... wish they would have all went on strike... not sure I want mine built by a bunch of UAW workers wishing they were on strike, slapping my car together without a care in the world...

I work for Goodyear, and have seen first hand how "union labor" does things in our facilities... by intentionally not making quota's, intentionally sabotaging others work(in the hope to not make quota), bringing back employees who have been fired numerous times... etc... could go on & on...

That’s simply preposterous.

That's how production in line work. I have no idea how their DPMO could be, but statistically, it's imposible to be zero. No one in the industry or any other industry has it. The Goal is to be at 3.4% (6sigma) and it's extremely hard to reach but a lot of people works in that direction everyday.

The point is that this kind of stuff happens and this is why warranty and service department exist.

Before launching any vehicle, service department has to be over 98% of fill rate that means that 98% of the services parts has to be available at the time of the OKTB. Therefore, don't worry too much on those thing because you will find it everywhere. Just be sure that yours doesn't delivered that way to you.
