Has someone forgotten our humble beginnings?
Not at all.

While the Barracuda was technically first, it's precisely a Valiant with a fancy back window. The first Mustang definitely used Falcon underpinnings, but was a clean sheet design otherwise. Big difference.

We call them ponycars after all, not fishycars.

I don't know why, but "fishycars" made me laugh so fucking hard :cwl: :cwl: :cwl:

Speaking of the first Mustang, I was watching Goldfinger the other night and one of the hot girls was driving a Mustang through the mountains. Movie came out in 64 so it was some great exposure for the new pony car.

Oh heck no.

Yet Another big slab faced Mustang? Just went through 15 years of that. Just looks like the S550 - which bears striking resemblance to the S197.

Next please.

Ahhh great, Mustang is about to join the “obnoxiously oversized grille” club... :eyeroll:

Edit: strange that Admin edited out my “thanks China” remark... it’s pretty common knowledge that ridiculous oversized grilles are the direct result of a growing market in China and their love of these black holes in the front of the car

The oversized grill thing is pretty lame design. It actually causes problems with aerodynamics and turbulence.

There are other things that can be done with intercooler openings, etc.

Great design happens when form follows function.

Make a great PERFORMING design and form it aesthetically around what it is doing.

Nah. Some trends are just weird. It's sad to see the Mustang just so static in its design. The S197 gave up on innovation and channeled the 60's blatantly. The S550 is simply a refined S197. The S650 based on these renders (if accurate) is just another step in editing the S197/S550 design.

It looks old already.

Ford, do something NEW please. Preferably something involving bold MODERN moves.

Guessing this means a lot of you won't be buying an S650. Thank you. This means two things. For those of us that want one, the cars will be more readily available. And, because of such low demand, without ADM. :sunglasses: Lastly, my wallet will become fatter. My family owns one of the largest automotive parts recyclers in the USA, shipping world wide. :) "Gotta love it !"

Said he who owns a 17 yr old Cobra ........................ Oh, and you've got the hard copy and the MME to back up your first statement? Highly doubtful.
