I think some of you folks are getting really hysterical over nothing.

There's no indication that the V8 is going away. They didn't say the hybrid was replacing the normal V8 GT's..but coming alongside them.

"RIP V8" "The day the V8 died" etc etc...dramatics, plain and simple.

This...

They know the V8 buyer is strong with the Mustang. They've kept the V8 in the F-150 around for the same reason, and it still keeps 20-25% marketshare of that product line.

Maybe it will get the 4.8 V8 we keep seeing rumored with an additional 150-200hp/150-200tq from the electric motors :p

smaller displacement 8 with hybrid supplement...seems like it might be a fair compromise.

Nixing the 8 entirely seems a little hasty.

A 4.8L pushing 375 HP/375 TQ with a 150 HP/TQ electric booster motor would be a really quick car, especially if they offset the extra weight of the booster motor with weight savings.

I estimate this hybrid to be top of the food chain on the mustang line up. With those words it might be a v6 tt and electric motor. The 5.0 make remain but as a mid tier in between the 4 cylinder and the new hybrid.
