The brake zones were very slow that car spend a lot of time on the brakes. I really can't understand why this is an issue on a 400 000$ car. Why Ford undersize brakes for 800 HP track car is beyond me.

I was hoping for a more competitive time with the GT3 RS. Maybe they can get another shot when the weather is better.

I don’t think the track was wet the first couple of passes. But they also needed to use that telemetry to dial things in.

by the time things were sorted, weather was unfavorable.

6:57 is a good time, but far short of their goal.

would be great to see another run in the spring. Porsche and AMG both improved their times in subsequent runs. Both had better initial times than Ford, but they also weren’t facing bad weather.

I have to admit I’m disappointed with the published time. But that disappointment comes with an asterisk due to the conditions we knew about.

I'm betting the ZR1 *under same conditions* wouldn't even break 7 minutes. 1,200 lbs downforce at 215mph is nothing. Though I don't think they were necessarily aiming for outright lap times with that car.

They released 13 minutes video with nothing but Driver excuses it wasn't the weather the driver who was not driving since June and only driving the ring on a Simulator to the engine cutting.

For me the braking performance of that car is sub par by a country mile.

C8 Z06 posted a lap time of 7:10 in the hands of a non pro driver with a lot of safety in the lap.



You think a C8 ZR1 wouldn't be 13 seconds faster on a 20.8 km track with twice the horespower and better transmission and aero ?

Maybe at some dealerships. Many of the large Corvette dealers charge MSRP, though you'll be waiting on a long list. Still, at some point in time, anyone with the money will be able to walk into a Chevy dealer and get a ZR1 for MSRP (or less), which is a hell of a lot better than having to apply to Ford and hope you can beat out some dipshit streamer with no car knowledge for the honor of giving Ford your 325K+.

I think it will get under 7 mins. But do I think it'll beat the GTD, especially the true lap time the GTD can throw down with optimal conditions? I highly doubt it. It seems like the zr1 is gonna be fast, but might struggle to put it's power down and won't have the handling finesse of the mustang.

that is kind of funny to think about. Of all the amazing cars the United States has produced, many even putting european supercars to shame. the Viper, the Corvette Z06, Corvette ZR1, even Fords own GT. All save for the C7 ZR1 and GT have attempted a factory backed lap record. All have failed to make below a 7 minute lap.

but a fucking Mustang did.
