Man, imagine 2025 and beyond where V8 Chargers, Commodores (SS), and Falcons (Mach-4) were available for purchase here in America. Childhood me would be ecstatic, maybe even overtaking my love for JDM sports cars at that time!

It’s the most fun when you end up with names like the ā€˜judge’ (i know) and ā€˜boss’.

Chevy did that car so dirty too. I had a MSG that had one, manual too.

Speaking of 4 doors, apparently TKs garage made a video with his ā€œsourcesā€ saying a Chevy SS might be coming back. Obviously take it with a boulder size of salt because he’s usually wrong about anything other than mopar stuff. Also recently Camaro development was halted.

But I wanted to talk about it because it poses a interesting situation, if they did build a SS I would see that as more successful then a Mustang 4 door, and the naming convention (although dumb) would allow more acceptance. Especially if they decided not to name it a Camaro. Basically would be a sucker punch beyond the grave 🤣
That’s where I think the Torino name would come in handy and respark the old rivalry. Nothing sells better than beef. Just ask the rappers. Lol. Just look at the mustang sales numbers when we found out the Camaro was going away.

can’t see GM naming a 4 door sedan ā€œCamaro.ā€

but a Chevelle SS (bevause I know you weren’t talking about the 2017 Chevy ss-blech!) definitely seems like a real possibility. Then Ford and Chevy can bleed away all the charger customers. That new charger is a boat.

a new Torino on a more lithe new platform would be awesome - as would a Chevrelle. But only so long as they don’t rely on nostalgia for a quick buck and really strive to make them into great cars.

Chevelle would be a great nameplate to bring back for Chevrolet.

Chevelle/Charger/Torino...imagine...

Now all we need is a Corvette SUV---šŸ˜šŸ˜ˆšŸ¤Ŗ

I'm of the mind, if Ford needs performance sedan, they need to bring back the SHO twin turbo V6!

Just saw that Ford just filed a new trademark for the ā€œMach 4ā€ name… I’m guessing a 4 door Mustang is coming quite soon.

I saw this concept render online… what do you guys think? Would you buy a 4 door Mustang GT Mach 4?

Could be the perfect sports car sedan for the family or people that want looks and V8 power with practicality!

I would love to see a sedan like this from Ford. That said, I don't care one way or the other about the name.

The coup needs to remain. I fully agree. I think the 4 door is a way to ensure the coupe remains. Otherwise, current sales numbers do not suggest the current mustang remains viable
Like I was saying earlier, if it costs the same, has the same features, it just gonna cannibalize sales though. Because with a sedan you’re introducing the average consumer, and they don’t care about the name. If they want a sedan and the only one is a Mustang one they’ll get it regardless.

Not that hard to imagine Ford saying well this sells way more let’s keep this instead. If that happens the Mustang IS dead but the name is around. Now this isn’t a debate on if the sedan is coming or not because it’s coming, we can wait and see how it turns out.

I just find this topic interesting because Ford has done this before and all those cars aren’t around.

I absolutely DO NOT CARE what the name is. What matters is that the sedan is produced. Honestly, I am shocked that the mustang isn't gone already. 2024 numbers were absolutely horrible and it's been trending down for years. Sharing a platform, sharing costs, etc. is probably the only way to save the current Mustang. Leave it by itself and I don't see this vehicle being around in 2030. The mustang only sold 44.0k units in both trims. The Mach E outsold the mustang by about 7k units (51.7k)

4 door Broncos, 4 door Wranglers, and 4 door chargers have pretty much saved the 2 door variants or Bronco, Wrangler, and Challenger. A 4 door sedan based on the mustang platform will expand sales by bringing in people who will not consider the Mustang at all. People who want the 2 door will still get the 2 door. There is a reason the Gran Coupe exists for the BMW 4 and the 8 series.

If the sales decline doesn't turn around, the Mach E is probably going to the only mustang around. The best way to keep the numbers up is with a platform sharing vehicle.

Of the two scenarios...the Mustang being a 4 door, or the Mustang being the Mach E, I know which one I prefer. At least with the 4 door, the mustang coupe/fastback has a chance at survival.

Where are they being brought? Dealer or model?

I’m not surprised it’s around, even on its down years it outsells a lot of sports cars.

That’s also the interesting thing about the name, more people hate the name than people who don’t mind it. Everyone wants a sedan. Since that’s the only issue it’s funny that Ford doesn’t change that one thing to get EVERYONE on board.

On IG I saw a guy state there were more likes on one comment asking for a name change then there are positive comments all together on 2 different media platforms. That’s not even considering other comments that agree.

but we’ll see, it’s a interesting time to be an enthusiast. Since I know it’s happening anyways I’ve been enjoying the different povs
