Lane keep assist tried to end me

I‘m gonna get out on a limb here.

If a person ever turns on lane keep assist for any reason whatsoever (maybe outside of a quick science experiment) they should give serious consideration to public transportation.
People often say that they want a self-driving car. My feeling has always been that if you want a car that drives itself, you've been driving the wrong cars.

Nope. Turned that POS feature off before I left the dealer's lot, and have never reactivated it. Glad you saved it! 👍

It might be the feature that I hate the most, by far. I don't like the steering wheel feel at all, too soft and unreal, and lane assist just make everything worst. It feels like having no control at all about steering.

It might be the feature that I hate the most, by far. I don't like the steering wheel feel at all, too soft and unreal, and lane assist just make everything worst. It feels like having no control at all about steering.
Double press the Lane Assist button on the steering wheel when you start to turn it off.

Has no effect on steering feel

You can adjust steering weight through My Mustang settings

It depends by the market and by the assiste type: line keep and line centering, here in EU we have (always) both and because of law concerning the ADAS, every time you cycle the vehicle, it returns to ON, same as speed alert. But now (finally) there's a possibility to disable this feature via ForScan, to operate like you said (remembering the last settings).
Please please please... How?

Sorry, but I want to keep it off permanently, not everytime I jump into the car. That's what I meant.

Regarding the steering feeling, it still feels really floaty even in the "sport" setting (for my taste), but I guess I'll have to live with it.

You cannot turn it off permanently as it is now an EU requirement on all new cars. You can do it using Forscan but beware unintended consequences.

Check your front tyre pressures - if overinflated they will give that effect. Correct pressures are on the door jam sticker. It is a GT not a sports car.

What do you mean with "unintended consequences"?

As another mate has said, it would be perfect if this feature could just be kept recorded when you leave the car. And there is nothing wrong with that, taking into account that you could manually disable it after all. We're not talking about disabling the ABS or anything like that. Pretty similar to the annoying start-stop feature. As someone else said, it's all just about avoiding the process of turning off all these silly things you never asked for.

I see that there is a new Forscan Feb.26 update, I guess I'll have to dig in by myself.



PS - My daily driver is another heavy-butt GT (Audi A5 Quattro) and the steering is waaaay more sharp and communicative than this S650. It's just the way it's done, and very noticeable everytime you switch between different cars.

Lane Assist, Speed warning and driver monitoring are all now mandatory in Europe. Not Ford's decision.

Don't confuse sharp (gearing) steering with weight and feel - three different things.

Also your position in the car will give a different sensation - you sit further back from the front wheels in the Mustang. Ideally you want a car that feels like the pivot point is around the driver such as the Fiesta ST to get the sensation of balance, the Mustang cannot do that.

It is very different to the Audi hence feels very different

I have never blamed Ford for anything. I'm fully aware about what our deeply retarded politicians are doing here in Europe. I'm just looking for a way to avoid these features that I don't want. And hopefully, less annoying than turning them off every single time.

But what I mean with "sharp and communicative" is not related to the gear ratio, or the pivot point, or the sharpness of the steering itself (this is not Alfa Romeo...), but about what you feel in your hands. Driving the Mustang is like driving a flying carpet instead of a wheeled machine. I don't really feel in my hands what the wheels are doing, the steering is way too assisted for my taste, too much disconnected from the asfalt. In this case it is not about masses, gears, balance, or chassis, it's about being difficult to feel when you're reaching the tire grip limit, because the steering wheel barely tells you nothing. My damn Fanatec wheelbase is ten times better!

But, as said, that's another story for another thread... :)

We can finally say we agree on something, VAG steering might be among the worst (let's keep Opel aside today), and that's indeed the saddest thing.

There is no need to mention Lotus. I've previously owned pretty standard cars like Civic Type-R or Giulia, and both are far ahead VAG (including Audi, of course). But again, the topic is not about steering sharpness and effectiveness, but about telling you what's going on underneath.

And yes, European politicians are the dumbest alive thing over the surface of this planet ;)
