Yes because you probably tried to turn without turn signal on, when u have turn signal on it lets u move to a different lane or whatever. Thats said is terrible and i keep it off all the time :D
I wasn’t making an actual turn that required the blinker. it wouldn’t let me follow curves in the road, too. It was insane.

Thats weird. I know that it wouldn’t let me switch lanes on a highway without a blinker

It worked quite fine on my S550, and I loved it especially on the highways, it's very useful, and I'm not sure I could be considered one of those who doesn't know how to drive. :D
But on the S650 it's bugged, and on mine (lane assist and lane centering) you cannot disable it permanently: if I try to disable the lane centering it last only for the session (it's also written in the disclaimer), to shut it down permanently I have to disable ALL the "connected" features (so I will lose everything else).

Hence, every time I turn on the car, I've to disable it using the button on the wheel (or via menu). EVERY single time.

The serious consideration about the road transportation should be forwarded to Ford. ;)
Thats not true at all. I have mine turned off in the settings. Its permanent until younsurn it back on.

Ive only used mine sparingly. Its a nice feature on roads trips with straight highway. Mine doesn't seem quite as good as my wifes Hyundai. But generally its pretty good. Ive not had issues, but the hand sensor is way more fickle and annoying. Also, if its dark or the lines are faded or are close to the median, the camera cant read the lines. I certian would use it at night or on curvy roads.

It depends by the market and by the assiste type: line keep and line centering, here in EU we have (always) both and because of law concerning the ADAS, every time you cycle the vehicle, it returns to ON, same as speed alert. But now (finally) there's a possibility to disable this feature via ForScan, to operate like you said (remembering the last settings).

No we don't. Lane Assist is always on unless turned off but Lane Centring remains off ( I have it turned off on my car)

My wife's 2022 Escape the lane keeping assist only comes on when on cruise control and it works flawlessly on long highway drives. My 2024 Mustang not so much. It also comes on with cruise control but it is unusable. Every few miles the engine sputters and I lose 10MPH it quickly recovers and gets back up to speed. The 2022 Ford proves Ford knows how to do it. My 2024 Ford shows that Ford has lost that technology and doesn't care. BTW my friends Toyota does not have to be on cruise control to operate. Ford is way behind the technology curve.
That is nothing to do with Lane Assist. Sounds like a fault to me?

"We" .. who? :) I said that when you switch off the LA, it will be back on at the next engine start, now via ForScan you can finally make the (last) setting to be remembered and to have it back, you need to switch it back on (that is ideal), and so for the speed limit warning.

We - European Mustangs

You also said Lane Centering always comes on - it doesn't

Gotcha, you must be correct but it doesn't matter much, I mean it's the whole thing that won't stay off (LA). Also, if i'm not wrong, if you turn off the lane centering, you gonna disable other "connected" things (or at least that was happening when I tried via menu.. but I don't remember right now), and most annoying the speed alarm. Now we can finally make this options to be chosen and remembered that is the best thing... well to be honest the best thing would have been to fix the LA "bug" (that this thread is about).

Lane Centering is part of the ACC and I have it turned off all the time (it stays that way). It has no other effects.

Lane Assist is just two presses of the button to turn off which is easy in a Ford unlike some other cars.

It's super annoying, every time I start the car it's like doing pre-flight check: move to Custom settings (two clicks), disable LA (another two clicks), disable SA (keep the button pressed for X seconds). It was nice at the times (like a ritual), I don't say it's the end of the world, but it's getting boring. As said, now we finally have a solution (if there was also a solution to keep the Custom settings at the start, that would be nice too).
Most important, however, as I said already multiple times, that is the purpose of this thread, I would love to keep the assist active (as I did in my S550), because in certain circumstances it's useful, but due to the "keep hands on wheel bug" it's completely useless... I hope one day they will fix it, making the system less sensible (prone to false alarms).

Thank goodness US cars don't do that. That would drive me nuts.

I don't mind the "pre flight" check, but what annoys me is doing it at every stop. If I'm going to be picking up things around town, I just turn of ASS manually, lane assist doesn't actuate in town and ESC isn't a factor at urban speeds either.
