Hello all, I’m looking for some input regarding possibly installing a set of Kooks 1-7/8” Headers and green catted connection kit on my 24 Mustang GT non PP 6 speed manual(with active exhaust). I already have the Corsa catback extreme exhaust installed on it. Has anyone installed a set of these Kooks paired with the Corsa extreme? Or installed a set a set of Kooks on the 24 GT in general? I’m not worried about how loud it will be because I know it will be loud haha, but has anyone had any issues after the install? Or anything they’d recommend to get along with the Kooks headers to make it better or avoid any issues? I read about some people getting a defouler so they wouldn’t get a code but I’ve also read that some didn’t use a defouler and didn’t get a code so I’m looking for some input on that as well. Any input/recommendations is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Also to add on to this thread, I live in Northern Virginia and they require a state and emissions inspection. Do you think I’d have any issues passing those with the Kooks headers and green catted connection kit?

I had Kooks green catted headers on my S550 and didn’t have any issues passing inspection in NC where it is an OBD check.

Are you planning on boost? It seems aftermarket cats are weaker than OEM..

anyway, plan on a check engine light. I wouldn’t run kooks cats, if you are set on cats, get the GESI big ones… they’re a few grand and seem to be the only aftermarket that last.

For me personally this dual 3” jones max flow was the difference maker, gives the car tone and clean sound.

i personally dont recommend putting headers on for a few reasons:
1. the aftermarket cats are not as good at actually converting exhaust gasses.
2. the aftermarket cats are weaker than the factory ones.
3. with a Corsa Extreme exhaust installed, headers are going to make it even louder. there is also a really good chance that it will remove most or all actual tone to the sound, which leaves you with extremely loud, toneless raspy noise that will make it unbearable for you to drive, and for the people around you. you will likely be put on the same level as the people who have straight piped Honda Civics and VQ owners.
4. quiet mode will likely barely help with the above problem, and you might get pulled over and ticketed for having ineffective mufflers.
5. because the aftermarket cats are not as good as the factory ones, count on getting a check engine light and failing emissions testing.
6. the factory headers are already really good.

again, these are just my opinions and guesses. its your money, your vehicle

You shouldn't, I have the Lethal/Kooks Off Road LT's with the angled Daddy's Garage I have had no CEL since they were installed Dec 16th.

The O2's went ready pretty quick but it took 3weeks for the Evap to finally go ready,

I did do a KAM reset when I filled up with E40 for a trip to the track and then unhooked the battery to fit a lithium so that is probably why it took that long.

Kooks green (GESI) cats are an improvement over stock cats.

The GESI cats will pass emission testing, barring any strange modification that was done.. if you run Kooks green to Corsa catback, it'll pass emissions.

Unless you're pushing 850+, I'd stick to the standard GESI cats...
