most emission's places dont care long as you have cats to pass the visual inspection i dont think the oem cats only rule is enforceable because what if oem is no longer available. i think they reworded the rule to say any epa certified cat is ok now.

1996 and newer when obd2 was made standard they wont use the sniffer they go by the check engine light and readiness monitors

but some emission's places are very annoying and just looking to make a buck
or are monster's and hit your cats with a hammer to make sure they are not "gutted"
They hit them with a hammer where you live?

Excellent post, by the way. The "sniffer" has no application to S650 cars. Anything that shows a relevant system is not ready yet, and they tell you to come back later, as it will not pass. Anything that trips a check engine light means a failure.

I do not see a way around the catalytic converter issue on the 2024-25 cars as of today.

I don't know if anybody has aftermarket catalytic converters to bold on to the headers that will survive a supercharger longer term.

NY and now PA .saw that in NY them hitting cats with a hammer.
they said it was to check they are not gutted...
the real reason is probably to induce slow failure and in a few yours you go back to them to replace it from it cracking away from the walls
