I purchased a factory key remote. I followed the directions in the owner's manual to the letter (I think). The third key will not program from the other two.

Just to be sure, I will check the battery after this post.

The service department does not know how to do it by the owner's manual. They only use the computer and charge $230 to program the key.

I told them if the in-car key programming with two other remotes does not work per instructions, there must be a problem with the car that should be covered by warranty.

They said, drop it off for two days, we will try to diagnose it and get back to you.

Needless to say, after getting my new, custom-ordered Mustang GT last Friday, I do not want to part with it so soon for something that takes less than a minute to do according to the instructions (in fact, you have to do everything in under 30 seconds or it faults out).

I have looked on YouTube and not found anything close. The F-150 video showed the same process and another Ford dealer website had instructions that were the same. I followed all of them and it did not work.

Anyone on the forum tried this procedure? Did it work?

Thank you,

Jay

I know there is a YOUTUBE VIDEO on doing it with a F150. I did a 3rd Remote on a few of my cars. It’s pretty easy to do. Just watch the video a few times and you’ll get it. Hope that helps.

I hear you. I had to do it a few times before I got it on my right. I was getting so pissed off but finally got it.
By the way, does the New FOB FCC number match to your original FOB?

Always… Army can’t have a winning season without it. Besides, we have to find out who gets 2nd and 3rd.

not to derail, but why 3?
Farmer Fran, according to the owner’s manual, you need two programmed remotes to program a third remote by yourself. If you don’t, you have to go to a dealer to have them program one. A factory key cost me about $350 then a $230 charge for programming. I would like to save the $230.

Damn! $350 for a fob + $250 for programming?! I thought the $230 for a fob + programming for my RS was outrageous!

For $600 the dealer should be giving you a year's free hand washes on your Mustang!

I wouldn't wish that on anybody... not the way some dealers "hand wash".

This is an older thread, but I thought that I would post here vs starting a new one.

2025 GT Premium. Wanted to have a programmed third fob in case I lost one I would still have two. Purchased one with same frequency and FCC number from Northcoast Keyless (I had good experience with them with my 2022 Mustang). Followed exactly the instructions in the owners manual several times but no success. Tried again on a couple of other days — no success. Tried it again today and no success the first time. Tried it again and success. Flashed immediately in the instrument cluster that it was programmed. Yes, it was programmed and all functions work. Thought I did exactly the same thing each time, but I guess my timing must have been better this last time.

So, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! Reminder: Ensure they are the same FCC number as your two programmed remotes!
