Hi! My 24 GT has been notifying me of an available update. But everytime I try, it fails to update. I have tried using the update now option then turning off car and locking it. I have also tried schedule option but each time when I come back it says update delayed. Ford pass app shows “update interrupted”.

Im in canada if it matters. Has anyone else had trouble with this? Ots been at least 2-3 weeks since it started notifying me about an update. How do I get it to actually complete? Am I doing something wrong?

I mean... what life choices led you to Canada, Eh?!
;-)

There's an ongoing thread about OTA updates and low battery charge state preventing the updates from taking place. I'd take a look at that thread, possibly get a look at the battery charge state and check in with the stealership service department. Worst case, they can do the updates.

It’s my understanding FOMCO won’t pay dealerships to install OTA’s unless it related to a problem the customer is reporting.

Now, I have asked what problem do I need to report to get this OTA installed. In full disclosure, I have a great rapport with the lead tech at my dealership.

Put a trickle charger on your car over night and try again the next morning. I had the same issue of Update Interrupted (edited just now) notification. Im in Oklahoma btw.
Tried several times making sure that everything was off, locked etc, as you did. Ultimately called service help number given in the notification. My car isn't driven daily and the technician and I thought maybe the battery was getting below the battery save mode and stopping the update.
Trickle charger made the update successfully!
Hope this works for you too! Just edited my reply to show that the notification I received on the Pass app had shown Interrupted not failed. My bad! 😲

I'm not employed at a stealership so I'm not able to comment on it directly, but I did raise the issue with my service dept. and they were happy to schedule the update if needed... So IDK, but they seem willing to help getting the update done.

ETA: I do not have failing updates, but I do have an update that was done OTA (for the black screen) and is not updated in Ford's service system yet.

The low voltage battery was exactly the reason my update kept being interrupted! Apparently the update drains battery to the point of triggering the Battery Save mode if the battery is on the low end of voltage when sitting in garage for an extended period of time

Me too! Trickle charger allowed it to complete.
Details: Dealer charged the battery, installed updates, but one update was still pending when I got home and wouldn't complete. I then got the trickle charger, which solved the problem.

I am also in Canada and have not had an issue doing OTA updates.

There are a couple threads going about this.

If the battery charge is under 80% the update won't go through. This was confirmed when I called Ford Pass. Once I charged the battery it updated fine.

A point of correction:

the trickle charger allowed you to work around the problem. The problem still exists, you just circumvented it.

If you get the pin wheel spin wheel and can’t get past that it would suggest the modem has disconnected from the process.

correct correction 😁

seems bms isn’t shutting down the required processes in time to alleviate the issue from reoccurring?

I'm not really sure; I haven't had to fight this problem. I wonder if a BMS reset and full charge (not a trickle charger) would help at all?

regardless, something is not right on these cars with the updates failing for charge state.

Most likely a catch-22 fix.

The BMS should not be reset unless the OTA is failing due to poor BMS data quality. The only way to check if that is the case is with PTS/OASIS. Most of the time, "interrupted by another process" is due to battery SoC and/or capacity being below the threshold, so the GWM won't allow the OTA to install until the conditions are met.

@klopklop Message me the VIN and I can check why it is failing.

@klopklop I got your message, but responding here for the sake of the info being out there. See below from your OTA dashboard in red. BMS data quality is fine, but the SoC is low at 56% and the capacity is also low at 23 out of 70 (assuming these cars come with an H6 size 12v battery). It is 100% failing due to poor battery specs. If you do not have a battery charger, I would recommend you drive the car for 20-30 minutes with the a/c fan speed set to at least 5 (this will trigger the charging system to charge the 12v battery constantly) and then try to manually install it when you park and the battery is charged up. If you do have a 12v charger, then charge your battery up to 100% and try again.

S650 Mustang Having issues updating software Untitled

Edit: If your car is tuned, this update will wipe the tune and return it to stock.
