Allthough already posted in this thread:

1) The added sounds from the electronic sound enhancement interfere with the car stereo. If you are into car hifi and have upgraded the system, it distorts music/impairs in particular the subwoofer

2) It is not real engine or exhaust sound picked up by a microfone and played through the speakers (something I could accept if volume could be set individually).
Instead, it seems to be this artificial noise similar to the Ecoboost sounds as you can hear in this video (best listened to with earphones to get an idea how much of the "rumble" comes from this system):

Even if it would sound absolutely great and not deteriorate music, I personally would turn it off because I want the real thing, however loud or silent it is.
And yes, I would be ashamed if my friends say "Wow, I love the sound of a true V8" and I had to say "Sorry, some of it comes from the speakers".

And once again my friends:
Please do not confuse Active Noise Cancellation with the Electronic Sound Enhancement, those are two completely different things.
There is nothing embarrassing about ANC, it's a comfort feature.
The only connection is that both systems communicate to make sure ANC doesn't try to cancel out the sounds which ESE is purposely adding.
This is already posted in the thread, too, but it might as well be reposted here. This is the Raptor, not the Mustang, but it is Ford.

Comparison with ESE on and off:

Definite difference in sound, and, yes, it sounds "better" with it on. The enhancement turned on is a deeper tone, more like you would add for special effects in a movie.

Out if curiosity and simply a question: i wonder if surround or stereo makes a difference

To describe the audible difference I experienced:
At low RPM/Idle a low frequency drone/rumble/subwoofer deep bass tone was gone after deactivation, and when strongly stepping on the gas with active ESE, all hell broke loose but especially from the sides it became louder like in a cinema when the music kicks in or at an orchestra when a bunch of more instruments start playing rather than from the engine bay or the rear.

Modified audio components, though, correct?

Those observations were before audio modifications.
Nothing to do with it.
Are you guys still fighting the existence of the ESE?
That turning it via Forscan off made all described effects disappear doesn't convince you?
With that in mind, all these new thoughts and speculations are not necessary at least in this thread.
There is no unsolved problem ;)
Who likes ESE, keep it, who doesn't for this reason or another, turn it off.

Still not captured just a documented perception

Maybe the thread should be re-titled?

Your way of disqualifying something that exists is exactly the same as people that say you don't exist unless you show us a video of yourself with a passport next to your face. Untill then, undocumented.

No, not me. What made you ask that of me?

I have not yet had the opportunity to turn anything off (all MacBook house here).

And this may be difficult for some of us to discern without a before/after comparison, as in the Raptor video, above.

Although they apparently detail the steps to replicate and claim an audible indicator is observable as the result without providing the verification signal that is used as confirmation.
