My thoughts are, well, how hard could it be? Maybe needs different mounts or something. my biggest question would truly be regarding whether or not the ECU would get fussy with communications. At the end of the day, its just a stickshift, right??

I fondly remember doing tranny swaps in TR6's by pulling the whole assembly out the inside of the car. Hahah, good times.
So basically a tranny swap and a dh tune?

Thats the thing, I don't know if the ECU needs any sort of reprogramming or relearn for a transmission swap. I don't use rev match, so that in particular wouldn't be a worry.

I would suspect rev match is transmission controlled/triggered instead of butterfly and pedal. But yeah will be interesting to hear.

what type of issue is making you wanna do it, just better smoother or the ratios?

edit: oh i see post #12. You realize gonna be slower, but then again just depends on how it’s gonna be used…better smoother might be worth it though but haven’t tried the dh so dunno.

I just like closer tighter ratios, and the tremecs also feel nicer to drive. Driven a few before, I suspect DH feels similar.

If it were up to me, I'd have the car max out in second gear at 62 mph, but thats just personal preference.

Nah, the whole point of getting a stickshift in this day and age is to shift. I want atleast two or three flat out shifts before I'm breaking any laws, hahah.

Mustangs have always sort of been the American tuner car, comparable to the Hondas, or Nissan 240SX in my eyes. Half the fun of these is making them your own with aftermarket stuff.

Would it be as cost effective as just trading it in for a Dark Horse?

Lmao, I’m not going to get a dark horse. Trading into a used car with an unknown history (how it was treated) is a far bigger risk imo than dropping 3-5K on a new transmission and selling the MT-82 on ebay to recoup some of the money.

Go with a set of 4.09 gears and be done with it.

Triumph TR6? been there, done that too. Many Triumphs were like that. Great for working in the driveway on rainy days.
