Lmao, I’m not going to get a dark horse. Trading into a used car with an unknown history (how it was treated) is a far bigger risk imo than dropping 3-5K on a new transmission and selling the MT-82 on ebay to recoup some of the money.
Swapping a Tremec into a GT instead of getting a Dark Horse sounds silly no matter how you cut it.

Don't forget to factor in the diminished value of your car that is now modified in a way only a select few will desire.

Although it does seem to be a common request.

Has anyone went ahead and swapped a Tremec into the GT yet? Curious if there's any sort of additional programming needed to be done for the ECU to read the right engine speed, or anything else like that.

Otherwise, is the install mostly straight forward like previous gens, issues, etc? Would installing a slightly lighter flywheel trip the ECU up at all and confuse it? Looking into doing this swap down the line, probably before I hit 100K miles.

- Thanks
This sounds a bit like trying to make a GT into a DH.... possible bit of buyers remorse???

No, lol. Its been a common swap in the last three generations of mustang. Half the point of a mustang was to customize it to be your own, its a clean sheet, thats why the aftermarket is so huge.

I dont resell my cars, nor is it a modification that 99% of people would ever know happened unless I told them. It’s just putting in an objectively better transmission in the car.

Swapping from an MT82 to a Tremec is very different to some kid slamming his car on air suspension and throwing a bodykit on it.

It really isn’t, but okay. Its like saying that spending 10K on a supercharger for your car is silly because you should’ve just got a used GT500 or Corvette ZR1.

If I’m already dropping the transmission to replace the clutch in X years, then why not put a better transmission back in. I don’t want to switch into a car with magneride, nor do I care for any of the other goodies in the DH.

Now that tunning is unlocked any weird ecu things should be workable if even a problem. I believe the rev match is based off of wheel speed, gear that is selected and engine rpm. The Tremecs are smoother transmissions. Ran a tr56 magnum in my 04 GTO loved that transmission. Was going to swap to the early tr6060 but they had issues with shearing teeth when under heavy load. The biggest problem with the MT82's is ford cutting costs. The factory shifter while workable for most is a bit meh on a good day and the lockout issues suck. The longer gearing is nice but ford paired it with the 3:55 and a turd of a factory clutch many issues are solved with a better clutch also that stupid shared revisor i mean who thought that was a good idea, also see crap plastic fantastic of a clutch line. I'm not sure if calimer or anyone else is working on a beefed up version of this mt82

who has the best kit?
As for best couldn't answer that. I know Mcleod and tick both sell lines I'm sure steeda does as well. Helps solid up the pedal feel a bit as the plastic one that like to escape and melt itself on the exhaust flexes. Seems tick performance has a separate revisor kit ready now with the stainless line.

Thx, been patiently watching ever since the early recall.

Just saying, Purchase the DH first, and in the end likely save cash.

6K for transmission + tune, - resale for used MT82, vs 70K+ for a DH.

Math isn’t mathing. I also didn’t want magneride which is standard on DH
