Hi fellows, hope you are enjoying your Mustangs!

I got my GT in march, and since day one until today I still feel the car super over heavy and slow to accelarate.

First I need to say Im not a very good driver or expert in mechanics: I always think It might be only my impression or that I’m doing something wrong while driving. But I wonder if the car has some mechanical-construction problem or if it’s just an expected project “issue”.

i have 2 cars (2 Fords): the GT 24 and a Maverick 22.

The truck is so light, fast and smart. You step on, the car answers immediately and gains speed quickly, with no struggle, silently. Its a rocket.

Now the GT is a struggle. You step on and the car looks soooo heavy and takes forever to gain any speed, like you are driving a Suburban and towing a house at the same time. Its a real pain in the ass to drive around the suburbs, or just to take an exit left, because the car doesnt answer. But the V8 sound is there. My wife usually ask me why Im speeding and I say: no Im not! Im inly at 30 mph - the engine sound and vibration makes it look like it…

When Im on the road, its nicer. The car is super stable and accelerates well even If I think its more noisy than fast. I believe any Audi would get to 110 mph without so much struggle-noise. But I also believe this is what we should expect from a Mustang? You tell me.

With a V8 twin turbo 480 HP huge engine, I believe the car should drive better. I have followed some tips from this forum and tried the sport, track and drag modes, and I was expecting to reach 1000 miles to get the car adapted to my driving style but after 5 months still feels the same.

Does anyone here has the same impressions about driving a GT? Should I go to Ford to have the car checked? Or Im just just too noob? (I might be)

tyyy folks!

The gt is not a twin turbo. 2.5k rpm and up to feel vs experience

For you to see I do know a lot about engines. What are those 2 big things in Y shape in the engine? I bet my ass (thought) that was a turbo. I’m so noob. Anyway - twin turbo or not, driving still feels weird to me. Ty for answering!

He may be talking about the twin throttle bodies on the S650.

Some of the '24 engines have had misfire and engine issues right out of the factory, but usually it leads to CELs being set in the computer. Scan the car and see if you have codes.

Does the car act this way in every drive mode?

What is the mode you are most often in when the car feels sluggish?

How is the car shifting?

Do you think you're in the wrong gear, that your lugging the engine?

Maverick
0-60 ~6 seconds
1/4 mile in the ~14 seconds@95ish

Mustang GT
0-60 ~4 seconds
1/4 mile ~12 seconds@115ish

That is not a small difference, at all.

So if your maverick seems faster, then your GT has a problem

Why are you buying a car you have no clue about?
Did you do any research on the Mustang?
Test drive one?
Ask the dealer questions about the car you are buying?
You should do these things and more BEFORE you buy a car, any car.
So I ask you, what made you buy the Mustang?

Pretty much every mode it acts the same way. It gets a little bit smarter over the sport and track modes but nothing that drasticaly changes the driving feeling.

forgot to say is an automatic so I cant tell
About the gear. Car seems to hold and the fist and second gears a lot and only kicks in at the 3rd gear forward. Thats what it seems. 😉

A few things you can check with the dealer:

1. Confirm if the car is affected by any recalls. Take any action required.

2. Ensure the Body Control Module, Powertrain Control Module and the car in general are up-to-date with the needed software.

3. Have the tech check the fluid level in the transmission. Cars have been known to arrive with less-than-needed amounts, like a quart or more.

After doing those three things, see how the vehicle drives and reassess.

two things probably contributing here

first is placebo: you expect fast big loud V8 to go fast, you dont expect tiny 4 banger maverick to go fast. the expectation alone can explain the feeling difference.

as for the transmission, ive noticed even in sport mode the 10 speed can be a little conservative if you arent foot to the floor, if you want the most control over the oomph then put it in manual mode and keep it above 2.5k rpm, otherwise the car will drop to the 1-2k range for efficiency which contributes to it feeling a little lackluster.

My friend im sorry to say that sounded a little bit offensive?
I bought the car because I like it and because I can. I like Mustangs and I dont think its a pre-requisite to be a pro driver or mechanic to buy one.

I didnt ask any questions or did any test drive before buying it. I just nevet wondered the car drivng-handling could feel any way but f. awesome. Its just feels a way more sluggish that I could think it would. And my question is if thats expected or if theres something wrong either with my driving or the car.

And tbh I would have bought it even if I had felt that the car runs exactly as I feel it today. I still love my car.

not questioning if noobs like me should buy a Mustang. But I appreciate your answer. Ty
