First, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I know my OCD tendencies can drive me (and mostly others) crazy, but I was shocked how easily marked up the consoles and door insides can get.

Any recommendations of cleaner or method to use to clean, or at least minimize, the marks?

I'm 6' 2", and have a 36 inseam. I have to be very careful getting into and especially out of my cars to avoid scuffing the driver's door kick panel/sill, etc. I've had really good luck using Meguiars natural finish detailing leather wipes on any scuffs 'n such. I would imagine pretty much any interior detailing wipe would do the same.

CAVEAT: None of the scuffs/scratches I've cosmetically repaired on my cars has even remotely resembled the damage to the OP's glove box door. If I didn't know better I'd guess he was riding around with an enraged leopard or other large feline in his car.

Just sayin..........................

Be careful with what you put on the glove box door. I definitely would not cover it with leather, because it is the passenger knee air bag. I don't know that I would use any heat in that area either.

If this was me I would go to my dealer and just try ordering a new door for the glove box. In the future might I recommend putting the wife's purse in the trunk? I'm very fortunate that whenever my wife rides with me in the GT she only brings her cell phone and a shared passion for my hobby. Love that woman!

I think maybe our wives are related ! Mine has one of those feedbag size purses so from past experience it goes and stays in the back seat. However, the door kick panels, both driver and passenger side get scuffed easily. Far too easily IMHO. I used Griots interior cleaner to make it much better but I was wondering if there is anything that can be applied to these places to prevent scuffs? Maybe some type of interior ceramic coating? TIA....

Just try cleaning it, this may be much fuss about nothing. Start with water and if that doesn't work try simple green or something. If it still looks bad try an interior dressing and if that doesn't do it try some "Back to Black"

Wife purse marks , My favorite. .. Is the seat all the way back ? That seems to help save my glove boxes from the wife's purse buckles.

You certainly can't ask her to be more careful ,as I won't make that mistake ever again and will never suggest it to another man who values their hearing.. ..
You're better than me cause I won’t hesitate to address that. It’s your vehicle that’s getting the scuffs and it’s only a request. I DO NOT ALLOW any eating or drinking of anything in my GT. If I don’t do it, then you can’t do it either. I don’t do that in her Porsche so don’t do it in my Ford. Just saying …..

Sucks that it’s messed up the glove box door my friend. 😞😞😞

I'm sure it's the wife's purse. Mine does it too. I've tried to get her to put it in the back seat but well, you know...

I feel bad that this happened. After the fist mark I would have gone on a quest to stop it from getting this bad. I bet the part would be expensive to replace so get a salvage part search. A friend of mine had a cheap plastic glovebox front crack on a Toyota and it was over $150.

On a whim I put a bit of WD 40 on a paper towel and cleaned it. That was last week and it still looks good with no ileffects. I have a 2 year old range with same wife and same purses, it looks new.
