Given a VIN can I find out if it has a certain package or option?

Hi

Looking at used Ford Mustangs. I am a fan of the 'active exhaust' option. if I have the VIN of a mustang from a website; can I confirm if it has that particular option? Is there a way to pull original window sticker given a VIN for a used car?

Yes, active exhaust has two tips on each side (quad), non active is only one per side (dual).

Ya, VINs are much more generic these days. A standardized format (or striving towards that) is one factor. Another: there are soo many options to any vehicle these days, you'd need a uber-long VIN to catch them all, especially on vehicles like trucks.

A window sticker will confirm individual options. Sources for window stickers:

Of the above options, Monroney Labels is the cheapest.

Seeing as how these are used vehicles, if offered by a dealer/used car site, ask them for the CarFax information; 99% of the time, they include a copy of the window sticker with the vehicle listing.

Roger on the physical inspection. Some dealers use generic stock photos. Other, less reputable ones, will display a car which has been changed, listing it as one thing, when the sticker shows something else.

If working with a remote dealer, there are inspection companies and services available. There might be a local Mustang club you could make a donation to, or, someone here in the forums. Most national companies offer buy-back guarantees, but you'd need to check this.

Edit: nvm i reread the post in light of the title. Yes, you are correct the vin can be used to query additional information but in itself the vin does not detail the information.

saddly i think that only works for unsold cars
you will have to go the other route carfax or something or if you have dealer friend or if one want to help out on here they all almost have carfax to check the sticker

but while it was being built and in transit i could view it
