Are you asking this while standing in front of a gas pump?

Premium always, although last fill up I tapped my card at the pump and selected 93 and they were out of both Premium and Mid so I filled with 87, just to test. Strangely I do not notice any performance difference, though the MPG is not as good. Gonna burn the rest of it out today and fill up with 93

It will run on >=87, but performance is best with 93.

Beyond the obvious performance aspects of 93 vs. 87, also consider 93 has more detergents and additives that will keep the combustion chamber and your valves cleaner than 87.

It's been proven.. you sacrifice around 20hp running 87 in these cars.

I use 91 octane from Shell in the GT, Ecoboost, and my ZL1. 93 would be nice but here in SoCal 91 is our "premium" gas.

I would say for most it depends. Myself and we, use premium as much as available in hopes of when not impact not as detrimental.

Always Shell. Always Premium, which in my area is 91. If they offered 93 or higher, I'd take it.

While the minimum is 87, the V8 is an engine running at a 12:1 compression ratio. Higher than minimum is welcome, for maximum power and pre-ignition prevention.

Along with highest octane, select a Top Tier brand fuel, to help ensure the engine is getting a good dose of detergents. https://www.toptiergas.com/gasoline-brands/

I only put 93 in my car... it burns cleaner and provides the best performance for the engine.

If you can’t afford the extra 5 dollars a tank … if I was so stretched on money… I would have bought a different car …
I remember "back in the day" when the difference between Regular, Mid, & Premium was a dime. Now it's a buck (Shell in Florida) between Regular & Premium.

Bottom line, consult your owner's manual. It will indicate what the minimum and, if applicable, preferred octane level your engine requires. As previously shared, try to run Top Tier gasoline. Finally, always try to frequent stations where you know there is significant turnover of the fuel in the underground tanks - the longer the fuel sits in the ground, the greater the chance it could become contaminated.

I use Shell 93 always. Only time I might even consider 87 would be on a long road trip if I was trying to save some money and was traveling on highways the whole way. Premium typically costs about $20 more (per tankful) than regular 87 🤷🏻

This has been discussed in this forum quite a few times.. I personally use 94 octane at $1.98 litre. That’s 4/1/2 litres to a Canadian gallon. First fill up $80.00.
