Because they're the gold standard of the enthusiast industry and have proven to be somewhat effective at appealing to younger and more affluent buyers which is the holy grail. Young and rich are the demographic you want as a brand when it comes to make aspirational products.

So learning from that isn't a terrible idea. It doesn't mean Fords gonna charge as much as Porsche does for their 4 door, dealers were told sub 40k starting.

Def a solid product, but pretty piss poor styling as far as mid-engine supercars go. I'm really digging the c9 renderings we're seeing. If it looks like this, it'll be a winner.

Like I said it was a name just like Ford. Look up the history of Porsche.

That would be like Porsche looking at Ford and saying they want the 911 to be a badge and brand like Ford. (Others have stated 911-4/Carrera 4 for a sedan, Mach E would be like Porsche 911 Carrera E)

GM just announced the new Camaro will be released in 2029 will be a 4 door, on the Caddy Blackwing platform with entry level of 4 cylinder turbo and V8 (undisclosed) and auto and standard transi. Built along side Caddy Blackwing and share many common parts, and my opinion knowing GM both of the bodies will look similar, Caddy more trim and luxury. To me the Camaro is dead, no Pony Car, just another 4 door hardtop. So sad and I pray Ford does not follow the same path. GM destroyed the Corvette, hate the C8, no resembance to the traditional Corvette, C7 was the best of the best, and now the Camaro as 4 Door....so sad to see the car business going the way of boring.

Farley seems like one of those executives who over complicates things just for the sake of putting their own stamp on it (aka ego). All he has to do is focus on making the Mustang the best bang for the buck. That’s what it always was and that was the recipe through every generation.

And lean into making it an easy to mod platform for the aftermarket. They totally got that aspect with Bronco. They whiffed at it on the S650 initially and only recently switched it up with letting the ECUs get unlocked

He should have used the Ford GT platform or a new IP to go after the 911. And the tech could have trickled down to the Mustang over the years.

That’s what’s weird because with Farley being a Shelby Cobra guy, I thought he would do something cool with that a long time ago.

and you’re right, because I remember him spearheading Scion. It ultimately got canceled because Toyota made similar cars under their brand already or could.

I think if Mr Farley wanted to create his own thing………as much as I would hate it because I have one on order….…. He should’ve called the sedan and Mach E the Dark Horse. Lol. (Dark Horse for sedan, Dark Horse Mach E)

It fits the “competitor you never saw coming” vibe, front facing horse in the grill.

Mach 4 by itself sounds like a AWD system to me.

I agree with the majority online saying it should be Falcon though. Ford Falcon Mach 4 could be the hybrid V8/AWD, Ford Falcon GT for the V8, could do a Ford Falcon Raptor.

One, right now they are the company to beat when it comes to any form of "attainable" performance or luxury.

Two, Jim's trying to market the brand to young people, who, much to my irritation, have a double-viagara level hard-on for German cars - especially Porsche first, and BMW a close second. If you're not driving an M car or a GT3 RS, you're not driving anything worth looking at to them.

I was on Woodward the other week and watched a group of late teens collectively dump the contents of their innards at the sight of an M5 Competition, but turned their backs when a Detomaso Pantera and two FD RX7s drove past. If sales numbers is the name of the game - which it definitely is - taking on German engineering head-on is the only strategy.

I know I keep harping on this in multiple threads, but it's the truth. The benchmark right now is Germany, whether or not you think it's worthy of being the benchmark is another topic. I personally don't.

If he’s so enamored with porsche he should go with capri. Lincoln ruled the (stock class) race (Carrera Panamericana) that just may have inspired two of porsches offerings.

Porsche sales numbers are non existent though. Ford sells more Rangers alone than every Porsche model sold in the USA.

Styling is a matter of opinion........I get what your saying, I think the C8 is just too busy of a design. It needs to have all those lines smoothed out and don't get me stated on the rear end . But enough people think it is beautiful, that GM can't build the C8 and it's variants fast enough, it is a cash cow for GM..............

Styling is not why a C8 is not in my garage, the lack of a manual is why.
