Here is a question for the collective

I had the car out yesterday and did not put it in the garage when I came home

Last night around 830 I figured I had to put it inside, and for chips and grins used the Ford app to start the car

About 5 minutes later I go out and the car is running but locked, key in the car... WTF go back in to get my phone to unlock it.

Now it was cool here in SW Florida yesterday and by 830 it was chilly

I get in the car the heated seats are on, the heated steering wheel is on, and the heat is on.... which was nice because the car was toasty warm and that gave me an excuse to take a short ride and crank some tunes.

So the question is.... does the car look at the ambient temp and turn on heat/AC and other features by itself, or is it a function I have to set up?

Here in SW Florida I am more likely to need the AC cranking and the seat coolers on if I remote start it with the app.

I really don't want to remote start it on a 90 degree day and get into a car that is adding more BTU's to the already hot as hell interior.

What knowledge does the collective have that I do not?

Im pretty sure by default it will use last ford app settings, otherwise when you use ford app to start it on the bottom of the start tab you set the temperature, choose heat or cool seats and heated steering wheel. Im not sure it automatically sets according to outside temps but I dont think so.

Are the creature comfort options set in the car and the app simply does the start?

i was under the impression the car used it’s own ambient sensor instead of doing an app lookup based upon location.

Our mustang is a manual but the truck is an automatic, same app but when doing remote start the truck decides via the auto/last setting.

page 118 user manual

REMOTE START SETTINGS

Climate Control Settings

1. Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2. Press Vehicle Settings.
3. Press Remote Start Setup.
4. Press Climate Control.
5. Press Auto or Last settings.

Note: If you switch the auto mode on, the
system attempts to heat or cool the interior to 72°F (22°C). When you switch the vehicle on, the climate control system returns to the last used settings.

Note: If you switch the last settings on, the
system remembers the last used settings.

Yes. Its a remote start feature that you select in the infotainment settings. Its all in the manual. 📖

well we learned a few things

climate control on remote start has to be enabled in settings, remote start.

First you have to enable remote start.

It can be "don't turn climate control on" or "use the last settings and turn it on", or the car will use ambient temp and turn the heat or AC on depending on if it is hot out or cold out

The steering wheel and seat heaters are also selectable in the same menu

On a personal note I found the steering wheel heat to be a tad hot for my liking, but the heated seats being turned on also turns on the steering wheel.

Since the number of days where it gets cold enough here to need heat can be counted on the fingers on my left hand, I think I will set it to use last settings.

The Mustang is not my daily driver anyway, if it wasn't for the fact I left it outside and it got cold I never would have even known that the remote start had so many settings, including how long to let it run.

In the ford pass app you can control what settings you want. I thought the OP was talking about ford pass app specifically. On mine it has a slider bar for temp and buttons for seats either heat or cool. Otherwise it will use last settings. I haven't tried using the key fob to remote start yet so im not sure about that.

@steveo1960 beat me to the question. A screenshot is needed and I’m on the ”Beta” user program.
