Hey folks,

not entirely relevant about the upcoming Gen7, but it is maybe worth a discussion regarding Mustangs being mid engines or not. It was unthinkable for the Corvette, yet the C8 is one mid engined car.

Do you guys think this will ever happen to the Mustang? Gen8 and beyond or not?

Furthermore here are some renderings of the Gen7. I like the front but foremost the side of the car. Looks really dope to me. What are your thoughts?

Given that 7th gen has basically cosmetic changes vs 6th one, mid-engine Mustang is pure fantasy (heritage of a front engined car, it being a Pony car and all that aside). Ford clearly isn't putting any money in development of it - at all.

It's just reality - there honestly is very little that changed in 7th generation. Mid-engine would have to be a completely new platform and to think that in this environment Ford would invest in it is insanity. Most of the money would go towards EVs.
(beside - it exists - it's called Ford GT and made by Multimatic ironically).

All articles about it are unfortunately clickbait nonsense.

Honestly, not only is it a great idea, I can see it happening. The performance benefits are too great to leave on the table, especially if they don;t want to go AWD. It just won’t happen in the 7th gen.

the only issue may be getting a 2+2 to work with that design. Perhaps it will change and become a two seater. They already have the GT to reverse engineer.

with so many vehicles going electric without proper infrastructure, three is bound to be sever electric bottlenecks and battery supply issues as everyone gobbles up precious minerals.

‘’’if the mustang stays gas or moves to hydrogen, a mid-engine is in its future. If it goes electric, it’s a moot point. If it goes hybrid, with a mostly electric setup, plus a mini v8, then the v8 will go in the back.

the proportions will change, it no one will miss it that much. Theyll be too busy grinning from ear to ear while mashing the go pedal in a straight line and around turns.

the mustang's appeal is that it's an all in one performance car that's practical enough to be the only ride in single car garage setup

going mid engine makes 2+2 configs impossible, so say good bye to a huge chunk of buyers

makes sense for the corvette because that's always been a dedicated two-seat sports car. doesn't make sense for the mustang unfortunately

Even though it will never happen, I really love the design. The rearend panels + rearlights look off, but the rest is awesome.

That would be the end of the next legendary vehicle.

The Corvette lost its iconic design thereby and became the poor man's mid engine super sports car.

Not to mention that mid engine makes no sense with e-drive.
Or does anyone really believe that there will be another new development like this with ICE?

Isn't Mach E already "mid-engine?" Battery right in the middle, low center of gravity. Great handling for a 4,920 lb car !! Would rather see a 4 door ICE Mustang. My daughter's school pick up line full of 4 door V8 Dodge Challengers.
