5000 miles into my 2025 dark horse with handling package and here’s what came up after the constant clunking/popping.

-Leaking rear shocks

-Ford approved the installation of a new transmission.

I have been complaining about this since the car was virtually brand new. Took it to two separate dealers who could not either figure it out or didn’t want to deal with it. Finally, went to a dealer who knew what it was right away.

The indication to me that it was transmission related was the fact that upon startup, my car would rock back-and-forth. Secondly, whenever engaging in reverse, the clunk was always there.

The random popping noise always seem to be coming from the rear wheels so I knew that was suspension related. Turned out to be leaking shocks ….two new ones have been installed.

Anyway, when this is all done onto the lemon law lawyers! I will post the service invoice upon completion so any and all of you who are having the same problem can take it to your dealers so they’ll know what’s going on

Dam sorry to hear about that. I've had mine serviced for clunking in rear and they greased the output shaft anti tinq ring. So far alls well with clunking gone, only issues I've been having are cold transmission slips and drawn out shifts but that seems to be normal 1080R characteristics. I have handling package as well. Hopefully yours is all fixed now. Cheers 🍻

Wonder if you experienced any rocking motion when you would start up the car? Also, did you have a clunk when you put the car in reverse? BTW, I’m talking about an automatic here, forgot to mention that earlier.

I saw your post way back when when my problem started and there were two other service departments that were just both dog shit in terms of dealing with it. Finally found a legit one, not too far from my house and they’re finding the issues that I mentioned in my original post.

The rocking motion I think is a normal thing for 1080r. I also have automatic. I think i even saw a write up about it from a ford service bulletin and I remember reading here about it but not sure where. I think mine does it a little but I can't be sure because I park on incline in my driveway. Either way it has not been a issue on mine. The clunk on mine did do it when putting into R or D from R either way. So far mine hasn't been misbehaving. They greased anti tinq ring maybe few thousand miles ago or just under. Also my dealership had no knowledge of those issues prior to me explaining it. They did have knowledge of s550s with similar issues.
