Factory Oil Slightly Low?

Why did you wait so long for the change? I thought everyone did their first change in a brand new car early. After the 1000 mile break in.

Not really sure, lol. I keep an eye on my oil level and the oil still looked good so I let it go for a while longer. Not I seem to be having some sort of low coolant issue:(

Yeah me too. Just out of curiosity have you looked at your coolant level to see where it was at when it was delivered? Mine had always been on the min level from day one until a month or so ago.

Would adding oil be a bad idea?

It’s not bad per se, it just resets your baseline for monitoring consumption, which is what really matters here (and not going below the lower mark). Maybe add only half a quart as you don’t want to go above the upper mark if it makes you feel safer.

Oil on the dipstick even at the low indicator is not bad necessarily it just means to add oil, correct? Things would be awful if there was no oil showing up on the dipstick. Is my thinking correct on that?

As long as it’s in between the two marks you’re fine. You just have to monitor the level for stability, which may not happen for quite a while. Having it closer to the upper mark is a greater margin of safety if you’re not sure about oil consumption.

Everyday, once a week? I'm not sure if you caught the beginning of my post but I checked the engine cold after sitting overnight. Should I stay with that way of checking or do it after running and letting it sit 15 minutes?

I bought my used 2018 5.0 GT Vert from one of the largest dealers in the Southeast. When I picked it and drove it 35 miles home it was a BLAST.......GREAT Oil Pressure.......Active Exhaust OPEN.......stirring the manual 6 speed.......VERY IMPRESSIVE!!
I checked the oil next day.....THE DAMN STICK WAS DRY......WTF!!??
I added 2 QUARTS to fill it up and discovered their "TECH" who did the complete service thought it was an 8 quart pan......everyone assured me it was not hurt and it ran GREAT while I had it........so I guess unless you're racing on the twistiest and only street driving a quart or two low ain't gonna kill it??

My photo is a little blurry but at most the motor is half a quart low. A full quart would definitely put it over the max line. I wish there was data out there to list all of this. Part of me wants to add oil and another part of me wants to leave it alone and monitor.

Going off of memory you have about 400 miles and drive 40 or 80 miles a day. Since you didn’t set the baseline when you got the car, it’s safer to assume it was full top from the factory and you lost half a quart in 5 to 10 days. That’s alarming if true. Therefore test it everyday for the next 5 to 10 days and see if it’s stable or decreasing at a rate beyond what Ford would deem is normal. Try it hot at night when you get home and cold the next morning. And document your findings (take pictures every day). If it’s really consuming that much, buy a quart and refill at the lower mark up to halfway and restart the monitor process. Thats what I would do. It’s hard to go off of a static sample with nothing to compare, so create this dynamic analysis.

Yes I drive 30 miles one way for work. And beside other short trips around town that’s all I have done with the cars. I have heard of cars being low from the factory so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case. Does checking it after running do anything different?? In terms of the level.
