Is there a fix for the excess trunk heat? I put a remote temp gauge inside the trunk and drove around town. The temp went to 102 inside. If it had been a hotter day then I am sure it would have registered even higher. Putting groceries in there would be a mistake.

Is there a company out there that makes an insulation kit or has anyone come up with a fix?

Not sure what color your vehicle is, but on a sunny day it is reasonable the temp goes up substantially. I also learned from my motorcycle days that a LOT of heat radiates off of pavement. I learned on hot days to ride the interstate lane closest to the ambient wind source, as temps rose substantially as the wind passed across the lanes.

Louvers greatly limit the heat from the sun…. Get the good aluminum ones from CJPonyparts.

I have a Ford cargo liner in my trunk as well, and I never noticed trunk heat even on the hottest days.

My Mustang is exactly like yours including the louvers and a trunk liner. The only difference is the bronze package. I suspect the excess heat is coming from the exhaust. I know the temp has been higher when I go to remove my wife's metal walker from the trunk and it is almost too hot to lift out. There must be an insulation package out there. I guess in the alternative I can keep the rear seats folded down so cabin AC can cool the area.

You can certainly wrap that section of exhaust with some heat tape, but try not to wrap any sections with welds, joints, etc.

The heat can cause stress fractures in those areas. Seen it on manifolds plenty of times.

Hmmmm...maybe look at Amazon for a heat insulating liner and just cut it to size and place under the carpet. I'm sure there's tons of options.

Insulated bags will be what you want if you are really concerned about groceries in the trunk.
Unless the drive from the store to home is super long, most of the time it is a non issue.
Also sometimes I like my crackers warmed up in the trunk before I chow down on them.

When kidnapping, make sure not to leave them back there too long. Get them to a safe house to wait for the ransom.
Ditto for corpses (whole or dismembered). They'll get to stinkin' in the heat REAL quick. 😆

Do the coupe rear seats fold down/open to the trunk?

@jeeptrix I just noticed you live in Arizona. I mean don't you consider 90 degrees to arctic temps? I would think you expect everything to always be hot.

Also, in all seriousness, robvas mentioned Dynaliner. I used that on my uncles '69 Mach 1 in the foot wells when we rebuilt it, and it was a night and day difference.

Yes I do live in Arizona. The first time I visited it hit 128. It was so hot it was bad for tourism so they moved the official thermometer to a different location within the city where it was cooler. Now it only hits 125. Then the wife said let's retire to Lake Havasu. It's a dry heat.

I am going to try the Dynamat as well as putting the rear seats down.
