I was driving my old, new at the time, 5.0 Explorer to Colorado on I-70 in central Kansas at basically nightfall in about 2006. I was going along about 80-82 MPH and a Semi passed me going about 90 MPH. He was about 100 yards ahead of me and I saw a big buck deer walk out in front of the Semi and look right into it's headlights. Not to be gruesome, but the deer basically vaporized. I've never seen anything like it. I had to stop at a car wash to get all the blood and bits of flesh off the Explorer.

That's not good. But at least it wasn't the rear window. The embarrasment would be too much.

The insurance company tried to tell me I was at fault, but after telling them a thing or two, they decided to be a not at fault accident. Like I told the Turkey "Hey I'll be coming through mile marker 124 at 5pm....jump out in front of me at that time".
They re-introduced turkeys here in Maine a while back and now they are everywhere.....Had to go down I95 again last weekend and there were a ton of dead ones and few fresh splats on the road from them......

You worded it perfectly..."you got hit by a turkey"...Hopefully you are fixed up soon...

I bought a brand new Grabber Blue RTR in early April. It had been sitting in the garage, waiting for the rain to stop. Took it out for it's first drive....heading back home minding my own business a 30lb tom turkey decided to run in front of me and try to take flight. He was only about 3ft away when this happened. He took out part of the nose, dented hood in two places, took out windshield, and messed up the roof.
The thing that surprised me was the windshield. It shattered into a fine dust with pieces of tiny glass. We were covered from head to toe. My husband got hit in the head from the rearview mirror that let go and the overhead console. The only part that helped was the RTR banner on the windshield. Here are some pics. Hard to see the damage as it rained the next day. The last pic was from earlier that day after detailing it.

They suck. They'll run at your car at the last second. Very dumb birds.
Actually, wild Turkeys are very intelligent. It is the domesticated ones that have drowned watching rain fall. Wildlife can be a real PItA. Just paid $2000 today for repairs to my Flex caused by a squirrel spending a day building a nest under the hood. And I didn't even get to shoot it.

Several years ago, my cousin went out to start a car that he hadn't driven for a few weeks. The battery had power, but the engine wouldn't turn. He looked under the hood and found that the engine bay was packed tight with walnuts. Squirrels had decided to use the engine compartment for a walnut depository.

Oops! I've heard about ducks, geese, and even a few antlered animals colliding with a vehicle, but a turkey?
I’m glad no one was hurt except for the poor turkey & your Pony Car 🚙.
In Colorado, we have larger animals, such as Moose, Elk, Mule Deer, White Tail Deer, 🦌 Big Horn Sheep, & Goats 🐐.
White Tail Deer are a little smaller than the Mule Deer 🦌.
They can Destroy You & Your Pony Car.
I would try to get it totaled, if possible.
Depending on your insurance company, they may say that the turkey had the right way and you didn’t yield?⚠

Bad break. I hope they find a way to total that seeing as how the interior was covered by glass. I know you’re concerned with liability.
