So from what I see right now we have three options.
One is 3.15
One is 3.55 with no PP package
One is 3.55 with PP

So the question is, whtat is the difference between the 3.55 with and w/o PP package? Are they the same?

And, anyone has photos of the two? I would like to know how to identify them physically under the car.

The PP is a Torsen differential using mechanical gears. The non Torsen is clutches. The Torsen is found on Dark Horse and PP.

how badly are you going to beat this car?

The Torsen is a stout setup, but we have not seen a bunch of the generic clutch type 8.8's blow up have we?

The door sticker should be able to tell you the axle code, then you can look at what the code matches to

Good point. For street driving, I doubt it matters.

I know what the door sticker can tell. That was not the question.
Have a good day.

A little help with education, for a solid axle Jeep owner.....

I got the 3.15 with my 5.0 - 10 speed. Can you just get a new ring and pining installed, as in Jeeps, or is there more that has to get done to get the 3.55.

Thanks in advance for the education and details.

Easy as this and a pro to to the install??? https://www.steeda.com/ford-racing-...ar-and-pinion-set-2015-161-m-4209-88355a.html
You also need a new carrier (in description of item you posted)... either a clutch type or torsen type as preferred.

Non PP is a limited slip diff. PP is a Torsen diff. I mentioned this to you in another thread. Visually im not sure of the distinction underneath. But it's easy enough to tell the difference between a PP car and a non-PP car based on the wheels spoiler, and front lower grille inlet. Not to mention it's all on the vin and window sticker. 👍🏻

the 3.55 diff without the performance package is a clutch pack type limited slip diff, where too much slip will cause the clutches to lock up and move the whole diff.

the 3.55 diff with the performance package is a Torsen helical gear type limited slip diff, where if one wheel is slipping, the amount of torque going to the slipping wheel is multiplied (usually) by anywhere from 3 to 4 (depending on the gears inside the diff) and sent to the wheel that actually has traction.

as for telling them apart visually, i don't believe there are any real indicators based purely on the outer casing itself. the only way to truly know what is what is to take off or otherwise peek inside the differential cover. the clutch pack type will have visible spider gears, where the helical gear type will have a metal cylinder that contains the gears
