I found one on ebay for $325. Any tips on swapping this out for the stock knob...just unscrew and screw new one on using thread lock I assume?

Yes. Use a strap wrench and unscrew the factory knob. Screw this one on in its place. It’s that simple. I installed the Bullitt knob from FP the same way.

Titanium is one of the more expensive of the common metals but it's not nearly that expensive. The problem with it is the machining. It's hard and they had a lot of trouble with it when they made the SR 71. Ford is making a hefty profit on this probably to keep it exclusive to the Dark Horse. In any case, I am going to watch mine carefully. They where stealing the hood ornament off my 82 GT mustang, They got about 3 of them and they were probably less than $20 each. Those knobs would command much more on the illegal market.
Looks like inflation has caught up to us. A replacement today would be a bit more.

I have a Shelby cobra hood or trunk emblem that I purchased for two dollars when I worked at a mercury dealer in 1969. It’s still in the rapper with a Ford part number.

Billetworkz makes one out of titanium just like it (for the manual trans) for $169-179.

Although this thread is about a year old, this could help others who may be interested. Blueovalindustries.com has them for $307.95. I've seen them for $370, and $400. Seen some upwards of $600. I want one, but don't want to pay for a new on and a window when some idiot breaks it to steal my shifter ball. No more crystal door knobs available like we had way way back.

Hmm? Want to make some side money? Invent a "Quick - Release". You could carry an old sock, and before you exit the vehicle just take it off and toss it in the sock. Can kill two birds with one shift knob. Keep the from stealing it so the can eat (fund their meth addiction) or/and use it on them if they come for you.
