It's always a plus to monitor and to be on top of how much fuel you're consuming no matter what kind of car you have.

Agreed that many of us did not choose the DH for its fuel economy because its emotions and experiences are much more prevalent for the specified owner who this vehicle attracts.
Absolutely. I use fuelio app to track mileage, costs, etc.
I was amazed to see on my last car, when I changed from 98 E10 gas to straight 98, and fitted Mich PS5's which have quite low rolling resistance, that fast cruising economy improved by 10%. The best I'd seen on that car.

Could really care less about my Dark Horse fuel economy.
Yeah kinda hard to imagine why anyone would buy a car like this and even care about fuel consumption.

Just put some in when it needs it.

Fuel economy is for sure a concern. These cars are "Track ready" not produced for "Track only", not every one produced is track bound.

Same with my measly GT. I made that pact with myself when I ordered the car. Same with tires.

That said, my consumption around town is great (21-22 with 10 spd.) because the local police, police in large bordering city, and the county Sheriff have a speeding campaign going on until August 12th when school starts I guess. It's working with me. My radar detector says they are, indeed, all over the place. "I gotta get outta this place!"

Mine have never seen a track and never will. But I still could not care less about fuel consumption. As I said I just put some in when they need it. Had fuel usage been a concern I’d surely have bought a way different car. I happened to look at the screen in my manual the other day and it said 13 point something. OK.

Well, when you pay per litre what most in the US pay per gallon, it is a consideration.
One I thought about for roughly 5 seconds until the salesman started the beast up.

Highest L/100km number wins right?

I'm getting close to 19L/100km some fillups.

Fuel consumption was mainly measured in the city, and indeed, fuel consumption isn't a problem, which is why I bought a Mustang.
What really caught my attention about the gas station receipt I'm showing you is the 60.7L (16.035 gal) I filled up with, when the vehicle's manual states the maximum capacity is 60.5L. So I ask myself the following question:
Did I come very close to running out of fuel on the highway?
The fuel in the tank is how the pump is cooled.

I would not make a habit of running so low, or you will lead your fuel pump to an early demise.

I get 21 mpg on the highway with the Whipple and the Tremec.

Don't bother looking in the city cause I be trippin' and rippin'
Fuel consumption is actually 13.4L per 100kms. Was it highway, urban or a a mix?
I get around 12.5 highway 16 - 17 urban.
I get the same mileage in my DH and it's stock
LOL. I must have more of a lead foot than you guys.

While I can get over 20 mpg for short stretches, I am typically around 17mpg for a tank.

2024 DH auto. Just drove 7+ hours @ 75 to 85 MPH over 500 miles. 23.0 MPG.

Maybe my poor mileage is because my Gurney Flap is still installed and I drive toward the 85 end of that range . . .
yeah gurney flap and trofeo rs tires hurt it a bit
maybe front splitter too

LOL, I was not even thinking about the tires.

And the front splitter looks cool as hell, so I can live with the mileage.

I was looking at my car as I left it in the parking deck, thinking, man, that is a nice looking car.

I guess it's nice not to worry about money
Anybody really worried about the $ difference between 13 and say 20 mpg would have logically bought a completely different car, don’t you think?

This just seems like common sense to me. I mean, if you’re shopping with your wife for a puppy but you’re budget conscious in terms of adult dog maintenance you gonna grab a St. Bernard or maybe instead have a look at beagles?
