Coupe vs Convertible?

I ordered a Coupe GT premium, PP 401a, Active exhaust, magneride and automatic. 90 days later and no vin I'm getting antsy!

After searching I found a Convertible with the same spec as I ordered. It's a few hours away.

So anyone that's driven both.
Is the Convertible a lot louder inside?
Especially wind noise on the highway.
Is the handling noticeably different?

Lots of good comparisons!
To clarify a few things.
I would not track the car.
It will not be a daily driver but I may drive to work on nice days. Including clear days in Ohio winter.
We would also take some road trips to the beach SC or FL. This is where my question for highway driving comes in.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of convertibles (any car). I just like the smoother, cleaner look of the coupes. Handling: They are slightly less structurally solid (there's no roof to provide extra stabilization). Sounds: Yes, probably a little louder, but that could be good or bad depending upon what you like to hear (e.g., exhaust).

No. Driving at highway speeds on the freeway is surprisingly quiet with the top up. Ford did a massive leap forward with the start of the convertible S550 and it carried over to the S650 compared to the convertibles of the S197 gen. Top down on the freeway on any convertible may require earplugs obviously.

Is the handling noticeably different?
How are you using the car? If you are tracking it, then yes. Stick with the coupe if you are tracking it. The convertible is heavier and you will notice it.
If you are using it as a fun spirited driver or daily driver, then convertible all the way.
I personally daily drive my convertible all year long in Colorado. Good set of winter tires is all you need. Rain, snow, sleet or shine. Miss living in beautiful California though, may have to return someday.

Agreed on the above. I loved my convertibles, but decided that with the amount of track time I needed to go with a coupe. Plus after living down south for 4 years and then moving back to Michigan I decided that it made more sense now. I miss my convertible every sunny day though in the few months of the year we can drop the top here.

In North Carolina I had the top down in January and February! I don't think that there was a month that I didn't drop the top down there.

After driving a Hertz Mustang convertible Sn95 I was hooked and purchased a 2003 GT Centennial (premium) vert. The rush driving the vert was amazing. Also if you don't like attention, don't do it ! As for performance, I installed a MM STB, full length weld in subframe connectors and those tightened up the car significantly. On Eastern L.I. NY where I live, top down months are late March - November, depending. On the chilly days, blast the heat. On the roasting hot days, keep the top up as it's too hot. Ironically it's easier to drive the car on slightly cold days compared to searing summer heat days. Noise is definitely higher but not intrusive. Maintenance is higher due to the top. Security is of course an issue. when parked in public, I just leave the doors unlocked and nothing to steal in the car. One item, if you are planning on doing mods to the car, the verts have many unique construction features, like springs for example, so you may need to look for vert custom parts. I went for a coupe with my 2024 because I needed a change. Both vert and coupe are great cars.

Rear visibility is worse on the convertible than the coupe. If you can live with that, more power to you. Noise-wise I didn't notice any difference between the two. And the non-PP coupe handles a good bit better than a non-PP convertible from my test drive experiences.

I love my convertible. My wife and I can carry on a conversation on the highway if we have the windows up too. The only drawback is you have to be careful not to get a sunburn. Road noise is minimal.

Advantages to both (there is no disadvantage in a Mustang V8).
Fortunate to own these two.
I’m long way from an S650. I’d have to sell BOTH cars to buy a single new model. If they ever arrive down under.

Wow, I could not imagine making that switch because I had to wait. Maybe a color change or options but to a convert. I would leave my order for the coupe and rent a Mustang for a few days over the summer just to keep me patient while the car I want gets built.

I had to wait out 7 months to get exactly what I wanted, and damn glad I did not jump the gun and grab something close.

What's got me actually thinking about it is the one I found is everything I want just a convertible. It's also been titled as a corporate car for one month with 900 miles so it's technically used.
The price is four thousand less than the coupe I ordered will be.

Also, Ohio guy here, my 24 GT Vert is not my daily, but we've driven it quite a bit for Ohio weather. Took delivery in Sept. '23 drove it thru November, top-down on nice days, even manage to drop the top on Xmas day last year for a ride. Don't drive it with the top up much, but when we have, I don't notice any much more noise than our coupes. Even top-down, 75mph on the highway, can hear the stereo and hold a conversation. Not a lot of wind noise.
Beyond the Track advice given, I will note that I looked at Mustangs for years looking for the one that I wanted. We finally decided to order exactly what we wanted as I would not have been fully happy settling. For a daily driver, I would settle for a close car, but for my special, it had to be exact. (my two cents)
