I think most ceramic coatings are snake oil, it's just another in a long line of state-of-the-art paint treatments that don't do 95% of what they are advertised to do.

The "pop" and the shine that most people get is from a well done preparation, not the final layer of stuff. You'll get equally good (and perhaps better) results from a good application of wax after all of that prep. Yes, wax doesn't last very long, but neither does anything else, not if you wash your car frequently.
There is absolutely nothing factual about what you just posted. If you dont understand what REAL ceramic coating is, you shouldn't comment.

Well I was going to respond to @BimmerDriver but then reread this.

“I think most ceramic coatings are snake oil”

He said “I think” and “most” so decided not to! 🤭👍
Thanks. And what I should have written: Most of the claims by the sellers of ceramic coatings are b.s.

The product is fine, it's the outrageous claims made by some people that just don't hold up.

What are the outrageous claims? Mind you we're talking about professionally applied hard coating, not the fake spray on crap from autozone.

I agree completely with the value of carnauba wax. I have used Pinnacle Souveran Brazilian carnauba wax for years and love the results. In the Florida sun it lasted 3 or 4 months. So you go through the routine 3 times a year.

About a year ago I was curious about ceramics. After spending a ton of time researching I decided to go with the Adams Advanced Ceramic Graphene coating, the same product that is in the above video. I spent the better part of a weekend on the process. It included prepping the paint, that is washing with a strip wash, clay barring, iron removal and then paint correction. Once the truck was ready the application of the coating took maybe 3 hours including removing the wheels and coating them inside and out. Initially, I was scared that I was going to mess it up but it turned out perfect.

The point of my rambling is that this product has saved me a ton of time washing my F150 as it stays cleaner much longer than it did when I used wax and the shine is impressive. The product has been on the truck for about 5 months and beads water like day 1.

I must be lucky with mine. The dealer did both our cars, they did a good job of paint correction, the product is holding up fine. And the woman running that dept sounded fanatical about detailing cars.
I do have a contact for an independant detailer if needed and I'll probably use him for a redo if needed. Just because I like to support the little guys.

I am extremely picky. I know paint correction and paint needing such. When I saw my car as soon as it was off the truck coming from the train yard I was horrified. Doing deail I was ready to knuckle down and make the car pristine. The dealar did a great job. My sales girl said that they use a 3rd party and that the owner insists on high end dealer prep. I thought to myself we will see. They did have the addon which I knew when I ordered. It was not an over the top charge.

Over the past 25+ years I have used wax from Zaino, Autoglym HD wax, Mothers, Meguairs, Griots Best of Show, Turtle wax hybrid solutions Max wax and the 75th anniversary wax, Soft 99, many spray waxes megs synthetic, TW SS, TW Ice. Wolfgang spray gloss sealant. They all have gloss and look great but non of them compare to the few ceramic coatings I have experience with…longevity, slickness, ease of cleaning. I haven’t ran into any snake oil yet.

Reminds me of the days they loaded new vehicles on an open air railcar with no roof or sides so the cars are trashed when they arrived. I bet that car looks amazing now! Heck, it looks good dirty.

I have used Wolfgang products in the past with great results. I don't know how long the Adams will last but I love it so far. I am blown away how much longer the truck stays clean:clap:

@Frogdog1 ..... apologies for the tardy reply. I use Meguair's Gold. The bottle has changed names a bit over the years but I read the label to ensure it had a high content of carnauba wax. It is a black bottle and when you put some on a microfiber cloth to begin applying it you can really smell the carnauba which is thick and creamy.

This is a very good wax. I have been using it for years and it's available at Wally World!

No problem, it's all good @MAT1955. I've used Meguair's Gold and it's very good stuff, IMO. I can't criticize it and have some in the garage. What it boils down to for me is that people like what they like, are going to use what they like and it just isn't rocket science.

Kind of like choosing the color of their car. They choose what they like. If someone likes the outcome of what they use on their car and they're happy, then I'm happy for them. The arguing on what's best in this thread is kind of silly to me. 🤣 The right answer for someone is what they like to use. I just happen to like carnuba and don't mind a very little work on my car a few times a year.

What I do notice on this forum is that everyone's car looks good when they post up pics. That's what counts.
