can we extrapolate that out to the entire car (or maybe just the interior) too?So glad ford decided to use a terrible design for the carbon fiber wheels, now I can blame the design instead of my finances as to why I didn’t get them
You could get a full set of VS-5RS wheels for less than half the price and a 19x11 weighs a claimed 20lbs each. And they look 10000x better. Just doesn’t make sense to get CF wheelsI read on Car and Driver these are 20.1 pounds a piece, and 37% lighter than the standard wheels, which would put the standard wheels at 31.9 pounds. Meaning the carbon fiber wheels are a total of 47.2 pounds lighter of unsprung mass. Not my favorite look, but I bet these turn some pretty good hero lap times.
From what I can tell, the Mach 1 HP wheels were about 31.7 pounds each, but that's not official.
Yeah no argument from me there, I am just thinking at 20.1 pounds, they should help the DH put down a pretty wicked lap time in a stock configuration. No doubt you can get wheels about the same weight for cheaper aftermarket. You could get a full set of VS-5RS wheels for less than half the price and a 19x11 weighs a claimed 20lbs each. making a value statement (weight) vs the complete shit that is factory wheels is yet another wrong-headed comparison. Good aftermarket flow-formed are 25lb. Forged are 21.7lbs or at least under 23.I read on Car and Driver these are 20.1 pounds a piece
I would argue a wrong headed comparison is factory vs aftermarket options, but to each their own. I was simply reiterating what C&D said, and comparing factory options, and I already stated that aftermarket would get you really close for far less money. As always, looks are subjective.making a value statement (weight) vs the complete shit that is factory wheels is yet another wrong-headed comparison
it wasn't aimed at you, but rather CD regurgitating a Ford puff piece without any critical examination. And Ford itself crowing about it's "accomplishment" when it should have had the good sense to realize just how crap (heavy) their wheels have been for 30+ years and maybe do some soul searching why they can't at least match the aftermarket when they've got 100x the budget and units produced.I was simply reiterating what C&D said, and comparing factory options
Yeah but I’m thinking some magnesium centers and aluminum barrels at 20 lbs for 7k would look better and pocket 1500.09Yeah no argument from me there, I am just thinking at 20.1 pounds, they should help the DH put down a pretty wicked lap time in a stock configuration. Personally, I think they’re hideous, which is actually kind of nice because now I won’t be tempted to get them! Thanks, Ford!
