When I told a friend I bought my GT off the showroom floor, he said he would never do that since so many people have probably sat in it an screwed around with it. My answer was that all the Mustangs outside had just gone through a New England winter, and I rather buy a car that was stored at 70F since it arrived. And I did not see anything noticeable on the seats or any area accessible.

Any thoughts to who is correct.

If you went over it and nothing was wrong, then i see no issue.

to get the car I wanted in a reasonable length of time I took a car that sat outside in Stoneham MA from probably early January to mid June when I bought it, then it sat outside for 2 months with occasional use in NH (put 900 miles on it)

It was a pretty mild winter but that was the choice I had to make, a ragtop that sat outside for 6 months or wait forever for a ordered car then pray I get the car built.

The car had 100 miles on it when I got it too

Again I ordered a car in April, then I heard next to nothing, the dealer I ordered it from could not assure me I would have the car by mid July when I needed it to be delivered when I inquired in early June. I cancelled that order and bought the car from another dealers retail stock.

The car has been sitting for the last month in my garage in FL waiting for me to get there.

Monday afternoon it will see daylight again

For all practical purposes, it shouldn’t make a difference.
if the car was outside, big deal it got rained / snowed on. Unless they were out doing donuts in the snow, with the salt/brine mix, what is being outside going to do?

And yeah, if it was inside, there’s probably a lot of slobber, hair, and some minor wear and tear on the vehicle. That’s tough to avoid on any new purchase.

Mr.SUB,

All valid points you have. I personally understand your thinking and I wouldn't want to subject my baby to the cold winter elements.
IMO the only thing that matters is your happy with your purchase.

Cheers,

I bought my Mustang that was sitting on the dealer lot outside for 2 months. No-one had test driven the car and I assume even sitting inside the car which I liked. However, the paint suffered with bird droppings, dust, leaves etc.

I wouldn’t mind getting a showroom car. It might have been shown to several people but it would be always detailed and frankly it was chosen to be on display because the color combination and finish was exceptional.

I bought my first Mustang off the showroom. There were only 3 Mach1's in the whole city and they were all on the dealer showrooms. As long as you look things over there should be no problems. Ford made a mistake when they built this one as on the hood scoop the tag said 351. This was not the case as it was a big block. I had fun as many found out when I got a challenge.

Two points:

1. I bought a brand new 2016 Corvette Z06 off the showroom floor. It was smack dab right in the middle of the showroom floor. $100K. But it was the exact car I wanted.

2. Is your friend married and, if so, was she a virgin?

If three dozen people had sat in my Mustang before I bought it, I wouldn't be worried about it.
