Adjusting the steering wheel stuck?

The owner's manual says: unlock the steering wheel, adjust, lock. Make sure that the key is in the car.

When I unlock the wheel I can't move it. Obviously, Im not gonna rip on it like a maniac, but it simply does not butch. Am i doing something wrong? I tried with electricity on, motor running and everything off. Does not work.

You have rotated the lever under the column all the way down? If so you should be able to move the column up, down as well as telescope in and out. Once you have it where you want to just lock that lever back up and it will stay put in that position.

same as this^ Yes maybe you haven't pulled the lever all the way down to unlock? If that's what op is saying? Is there a wheel lock on these that prevents steering left to right that he might be referring to? Now that I thinking of it can't remember. Still trying to figure what is locked

Push the lever down to unlock it, move the column where you want it, put the lever back up.

I push down the lever (1) as far as it goes. But even so I cannot move the column. It seems the unlocking mechanism does not work or the column is stuck.

Try to keep pulling it down, it might be that your not fully unlocking it. Pull all the way as far as it goes.
It goes pretty far to unlock.
Sorry to reiterate what you already said but it goes pretty far down.
If it doesn't move and your sure you've moved the level to it's end and still locked then take to dealership.

It does take a little bit of effort to move it.

good news, I was able to finally dislodge it with a good jerk down. it seems to be stuck from the factory, but it works now as it should. thanks guys.
