I want to add the AE to my GT. Now that Ford has unlocked the ECU/PCM/IPC/etc., is adding the AE feature through Forscan doable?

So I have talked to 2 tuners and I've been told the PCM has the options to enable AE with the previously mentioned components installed and the ForScan changes completed. You do need to have the RTD4 from HP Tuners. Looks like I will try this out and see how it goes. I plan on adding the Borla S-Type with valves.

This thread just confirms that AE was one of the best decisions I made when I got my GT.

Bumping thread, did this work? I'm thinking of buying an exhaust system for my GT and would like to have a quiet mode so I don't anger my neighbors.

I haven't seen anyone confirm success, but a couple of other options:
- some guy on Youtube bought used active exhaust mufflers themselves off eBay and rigged up a mechanical method to switch them open/closed, using magnets. I don't know how durable this is with heat, since heat will remove the magnetism over time
- generic active mufflers ~$150-300 each. You could have a muffler shop weld them in place of your OEM mufflers, and they have their own separate switch and wiring.
