You can change the active exhaust via all those tables to do anything you want. You want to make all modes track full open, then just apply table 4 to the columns for the mode you want. Even can change it per gear.

@Frogdog1 ..... you can bet your Mustang that temperature makes a huge difference, humidity does too but not as much as temperature. Altitude makes a huge difference. When we were building high performance marine engines for owners who boated in higher altitudes we would have to re-gear their outdrives.

Yeah....nah.
Any rum in the Juicy Juice? A dash of Sailor Jerry Sour Apple rum would be a perfect pairing.

So I'm told, repeatedly.

What the hell do you mean?
 Patience, ZXMustang, :punch: it was not readily apparent what we are looking at.

Thats the reference for the modes for those two tables. Table 3 is the sport table on the left and table 4 is the track table on the right.
Thank you, this explanation helps translate what I am looking at to make (a little) more sense.

So question: The Active Exhaust Table selection, what you called "reference for the modes," Track/Drag are all 4. Sport is all 3. Then we see table 3 and table 4, with pedal position and rpm. What do the numbers in that "reference for the modes" chart mean?

The reason for my question is I see that Quiet are all 1. So far the higher the number, the louder the exhaust, but . . . when I look at normal, I see some 6 numbers (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and even some 7 numbers (6th and 7th) and even the number 5 in the top three gears.

You can change the active exhaust via all those tables to do anything you want. You want to make all modes track full open, then just apply table 4 to the columns for the mode you want. Even can change it per gear.
This is the post that prompted my questions.

The numbers in the charts are percentages, but in decimal of how far the valves open. In the track drag, you can see they’re all set to 1.00. That would be 100% open. In the other chart for sport, you can see many of the cells are set to less than 1.00. That means the valves are partially closed at those RPM and pedal positions. And for the normal column in the other chart that the notes that different geara are using different tables. Those tables I did not picture.

Yes, understood. I was asking about the reference mode numbers, in the third chart down at the bottom. The chart that says all 4 for Track (which appears to be an instruction to stay open all the time).

Any idea what 4 means or 3 or 5 or 6 or 7? 1 is Quiet Mode in all gears. But normal has 6 and 7 in some gears, which is higher than 4.

Those are different reference tables. Used in the below chart, 3 is the left chart and 4 is the right one. The others are Not pictured. But those are all in the tune file. When I have a minute I can screen shot them.

I tried this out yesterday several times and could not notice the difference when switching exhaust mode only between Sport and Track

Sorry.

It did change the sound, but not throttle responsiveness or power or anything else I could discern.

@Junkyard Dog ..... that would be correct. There isn't enough of a change to notice that. We ran dyno tests on switchable exhausts connected to CMI headers to account for various no wake zone decibel readings and there were not measurable differenced between the final selections.

I agree you cant feel that extra 6 HP. But we aren't talking dyno HP. We're talking trottle input. It's not unreasonable that a freer flowing exhaust MIGHT give you a little better trottle response.

@AZ_Ryan ....... do I hear the song "feelings" playing in the background? That's pretty thin AZ. I agree you can hear a different sound with some of the aftermarket filters but can you feel that at the pedal? "Feelings" keeps playing. Just sayin' ..... Do agree that no one can notice a 6HP gain on 480 horses and IMO the 6 HP claim is pretty dubious.

What's pretty thin? And who said anything about feelings? 🙄

It would be interesting to get a full explanation of why the peaks and valleys are the way they are in the Sport mode chart. Could some of it be to avoid breaking noise ordinances?

Just seen a POV video on IG of a guy who got pulled over in MD for driving his Kia in sport mode. “Excessive Noise”. Might have been Ocean City though, where the big car meets have worn out their welcome there, and the State Troopers were hassling everybody.

Still, getting pulled over for driving in Track Mode can be a real possibility. around here it’s really rural, so even in town, it seems unlikely.
