Coupes get noise cancellation for engine sound enhancement (noise cancellation in an enclosed environment which is tailored to highlight the desired instrument/sound - as in cancels other noises so natural engine sounds are more/less apparent) and convertibles get environment sound cancellation (active noise cancellation). But otherwise thusfar no ‘fake’ soundtrack has been discovered in code.
Switch ESE off and then try telling yourself it makes no difference.

Is it a customizable sound that is able to manipulated? Can you make the ecoboost sound like the v8 and vice versa ? Same software.

I appreciate your comment and do not want to argue with you. However I disagree what you said. ESE is very noticeable. The quiet mode just shows you the patch of reality. Of course, you turn on the exhaust on or install aftermarket exhaust to make up the sound, and that is real but the ESE is not real and so clear to notice once you realize it.

It is the quiet mode make you realize the other modes are spiced up through B&O, which makes you detached from the reality.

I would say I pause this conversation until my next drive with the sound system completely disconnected to proof my point.
I have disabled ESE on mine and I haven't noticed anything significant but I will say im keeping it disabled because I can't stand even the idea of fake bullshit engine sounds! And I would've disabled it even if I knew i absolutely wouldn't notice anything. Audio pollution and keeping things simple ect. Cipis >All the best cheers 🍻

I got a chance to drive my DH properly today so spent some time in quiet mode and track mode. Honestly the difference with ESE off is not so subtle as I first thought. In quiet mode it actually just sounds like a regular car when driving normally. And in track mode you actually have to mash the throttle to make any really obnoxious noise.

It transforms the car in the sense that when cruising along it is far more pleasant - no noise in the cabin just for the sake of reminding you that you’re in a V8. When you do hammer it the noise is there but it’s outside the car rather than inside it.

Once your know you’re being fed fake/enhanced sounds through the speakers you surely have to turn it off if you have the means to do so, but maybe for some ignorance is bliss 🤷

I turned off the ESE/ANC, Car sounds way better. Especially after I upgraded the subwoofer.

I just turned off ESE in my 301A GT. I read conflicting reports on this forum, but even the base GT (no subwoofer) has it enabled. The engine sound is now quieter at low RPMs and sounds more authentic. The directionality of the sound is also different, clearly coming from the exhaust instead of vaguely around the cabin. Shifts also sound better than before. Highly recommend it.

How big is your glove box or do you listen to fake noise masquerading as music. Where is the ‘real’ band?

So you changed the speaker and noticed a difference? Weird, i’d been disappointed if it didn’t, probably would have wanted my money back.

Well to take what I think you meant as an analogy, listening to recorded music in a car isn’t the same as going to see a live band that turns out to be lip siyncing their songs and pretending to play their instruments. Yes it’s the same songs but it definitely doesn’t sound the same and isn’t genuinely what you should be hearing when you are at the event (the event in our case being sitting inside the car and the band being the exhaust system and the notes it makes being the songs).

You are obviously someone who is determined not to believe this is a real thing, but the setting is there and there are plenty of explanations online describing what it does and how it sounds, so whether you want to believe it or not it exists. You prefer it your way, that’s absolutely fine and I’m not going to convince you otherwise, but for me I prefer it without ESE. This thread is just here to highlight the feature and tell people how to turn it off if they want to.

Ever heard of dolby noise reduction? Used to be a setting we could enable/disable way back when cars came with cassette players.

close but even if the band was real the sound from the speakers is ‘fake’, according to the understanding that has been batted about.

We have to accept that some adulls here still want to believe in Santa even when they know he's fake. Sometimes believing in lies that taste better than reality is their way to enjoy their live. 🤣
