The 3.15 is an option because a huge chunk of buyers neither know nor care what ratio they have and putting the 3.15 in a bunch of Mustangs gives Ford better overall MPGs to meet CAFE and federal requirements (and avoid fines/fees).It’s hilarious that this is an actual debate.
ask yourself why Ford offers these options.
it’s the following: higher number = more acceleration. Lower number = more economy. Has zero to do with transmission smoothness or anything else. It’s all about maximizing performance or… not.
