My windshield was replaced by a local, very professional shop a few months ago so I don't want Ford touching it. It's a factory windshield, not aftermarket.

The goop repair is to be done to every car first, then water tested and other repairs to as follow. And you're right that's why they want pictures because if they don't get them they'll come back on us later and say we didn't do it. Ford cares about one thing, selling a car and watching it roll over the curb they don't care about you as the customer and they don't care about us as the dealer.

This doesn't apply to those who cars have been on hold, but if you take your car in for an oil change and they tell you you have an outstanding recall it's your choice whether to do it or not. They can't make you and you don't have to.

this makes perfect sense. My 2025 GT Premium has 3100 miles on it and is garage kept. I will not rush to have this performed. It is great for those waiting for stop sale vehicles.
That sealant application in figure 9 looks like crap! I would not be happy with that!!
No! I'm not doing that unless there is a guarantee it looks a lot better than that pic!

inspect the windshield for leaks, reseal the windshield if necessary,

goop first then check for leak then seal the windshield?

Shouldn’t it be, don’t fix it if it aint broke?

Test, confirm, repair, verify?

But if you deny the goop smear will that void the warranty?

This is what my dealership told me. They will only touch the windshield IF NECESSARY.

The wording is bad. Pretty sad for an official Ford statement. If they turned the comma into a period, it reads more like to test the windshield first, and reseal if necessary.

The thing that always amused me about this, not that it's actually funny, is that all of those cars on a stop sale are sitting outside in the rain waiting for the fix. Ironic, perhaps?

Anyway, I'm just happy that they finally have a solution, and sad because I probably paid too much for my used car since there were no new cars available for purchase. Oh well.

I hope my dealer gets on with this. Waiting to take delivery of my 25 DH since late August.
I am in the UK but would imagine the fix is worldwide and hope they are aware of it.

Its at work, I'll scan it Monday and post. I would not count on them accepting what you have done yourself to close the recall, for liabilityreasons, I know that I would not.

Thank you! 🙏 And I understand your point. But chances are they won't do too much additional mess if everything is already visibly, properly done per instructions.

I wouild not count on it. You know, there is a lot of talk on the forum about "stealerships" and those of us who have made a career in the car business, but I have stories for DAYS about how cutomers have tried to cheat and flat out fuck us over. With rare exception, every time I've tried to circumvent procedure, or go against something I know is right, just to "be nice' I end up taking it in the ass.

We do more stuff for free than you could ever imagine just for customer satisfaction. When I was at Lexus, our policy (chargeoff account) was $30,000 a month, and if it stayed under that, we were never questioned. Yeah, $30K a month for freebies to keep people happy.

I don't know where most of you live, but in Texas, we have a saying "ya gotta dance with the one that brung ya". I'll work on cars from any dealership, and those owners get the same courtesy from me as anyone, but the perks and special treatment goes to the people who have bought and serviced from us. I guarantee you every dealer is the same way. If I have one loaner car, and two people needing it, thats how I make my decision.

After 47 years, I still like my job and I like my customers, and I have the CSI to prove it, but I always have one eye open...
