The 2026 Mustang Dark Horse® coupe is ready for the streets and the track. Featuring a modified Gen-4 5.0 liter Coyote™ V8 engine — our most powerful naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 ever.

What has changed? If they are talking about a modified engine, I am excpecting more BHP
The Dark Horse has forged connecting rods. Otherwise its the same gen 4 Coyote block that the GT has. The extra 14 horse power comes from a different intake and tune.

You know what you have been a great upgrade? If they listened to the community and closed those stupid looking fender well holes.

Yeah I know. But when I read it, it perceived that the 2026 DH has more power than the 24/25 DH. That is why I got confused

Oh I gotcha. There are no changes that I'm aware of. Just fancy verbiage.

Yep. Sort of like those Borla S Type that are advertised as moderate. Dude hooked them up of a 24 GT with Swichfire and they were extremely loud. So they put on some twisted looking resonators to quiet them down. Then I noticed Borla themselves use bullet resonators on their own systems. Those things were extremely loud. Guess I'll stay stock until I find truly moderate mufflers.

My speculation, after the interview, was that they might be considering going after the new charger's sales by offer a 4-door mustang to compete with it. If I thought of that during the interview, I would have suggested that if they try that they call it the Ford falcon, just like the 4-door car that the mustang was originally based on.
We both know that's never going to happen. Mustang is a brand now, it is no longer just a model. Ford made this very clear with the introduction of the Mach-E.
Agree. I think a 4-door Mustang would create some buzz and could be an overall positive. Given the styling of the S650 hasn't grown on me much, perhaps the added practicality of a 4-door could be enough to consider replacing my S550.

Ford needs to do something. I see plenty of newer sedans around town all day. I get on the computer and see the cars are no longer in the catalog. I look up the explorer and found it doesn't come with a V8. The top model has 6 cylinder, and the others are Ecoboosts.

Ford has already done something. You just don’t like what they did. They left the car business because they did want to invest the money needed to keep up with the Japanese and Koreans. I do no remember when they pulled the V8 from the Explorer but it was most likely due to lack of sales. They have a 400hp 3.5 Ecoboost which is more than enough for a SUV.

Pulling the bigger engines out of vehicles is primarily driven by fuel economy and emission standards. I suspect many customers want the Coyote over Ecoboost engines due to reliability rather than power.

Just FYI, the last year for a V8 powered Explorer was 2010.
