I just did the first oil change for the 2.3 Ecoboost. It baffles me that Ford could not design a secondary panel that is removed just for the oil and filter. The oil filter and drain pan bolt for the 2.3 are very close together, one panel could easily cover these two items. The V8 would be harder but Im sure possible. Removing 17 7mm bolts and 5 additional fasteners is just poor design. Granted, it comes on and off fairly easy with a clip tool and Milwaukee Driver with 7mm socket. Hardest part was finding the prescribed filter for the 2.3 Ecoboost, at present the dealer is the only place I could find the correct Motorcraft FL2127.

I did mine 2 weeks ago. I agree that it wouldn't have taken much effort or cost to have a much smaller removable panel at the back to facilitate oil changes. Other than that, an easy job.

Does anyone know if the Dark Horse takes more oil than a GT?
Page 371 of the 2024 Owner's Manual says 10 quarts, 5.0 liter. It does not differentiate between GT and DH.

My dealer with my concurrence converted my Ford points awarded to me for buying the 24’ GT Convertible into oil changes that can be used at any dealership. The value is $210.00.

I was told by the dealer the Ford points can be used for anything however, I used mine for oil changes.

@Pyroguy ...... I'm a bit late to this party so you have probably read Tony Unica's post on the holes that are in your front fender liners that allow gravel shot by the front tires to get all over the inside of the belly and side pans and damage your car - IMO - severely over the ling term and you have also probably heard that Hein at DIYvan.com sells oem quality plastic covers as a kit with JB Weld to affix them to the fender liners to cover the holes. I installed the covers in the spring and they are on for ever.

I read this too, there are two renditions of the manual one says 10qrts and one says 9.6qrts. I think as long as you keep it in that range you should be okay. I have the manual and put in just under 10qrts and all is well. I noticed that with my catch can this car LOVES oil!

I know changing the oil in a new car may seem redundant, but for peace of mind, and coming straight from factory, it’s nice knowing that I have a full 10qt in the engine.

I did a 1k mile change and it was quite simple, although oil filter was in precarious spot behind splash pad, but only a few bolts to take off the pad…

Love the car so far, drives like a champ!
Morning, did you use ramps or jack stands for access.
Thanks

I have used both a floor jack and stands and a ramp on different changes on this car and both provided ample clearance.

All the best!

Thanks, I guess I’ll use jack stands.
Thanks for reply
