I really hope it's earlier than that, but I think that is a solid guess. I heard rumors of January somewhere, but I think that's probably early.
I did some research. Apparently they can start selling 2024s any time after January 2nd, so the only thing stopping Ford from opening it early is 2023...
I am curious to see if the Dark Horse HP can beat the Mach 1 HP track times, such as in the Lightning lap. Sure it gained 20 horsepower, but likely weighs more due to new tech and steel fenders. The biggest difference is the Trofeo tires are typically less aggressive than the Cup 2 tires. What...
Jim Farley Drive Podcast
Listened to this earlier. He talks a little about custom tuning. Also about nameplates. He mentions having more in pipeline, but he seemed to indicate not using Mach 1. Pretty neat.
Listened to Jim Farley on drive today, he didnt mention very many specifics, but he did say custom tuning will be available. Don't know if that still means limited to approved third parties or not.
It has the same compression as the gen 3 motors, 12:1. I honestly am pretty impressed they are shooting for 100 hp/liter, especially in today's world. I think 500 horsepower from a stock coyote is pretty awesome.
That is a quote from Ed Krenz, chief nameplate engineer for the Mustang. Now, they may be hiding something, sure. I really started the thread to see if I missed an article about there being more differences. I suppose we will have to wait and find out.
True, but there is no evidence of a higher breathing intake and better valve train for the DH. Only upgraded rods and tuning announced so far. Hoping for a redline bump too, but no confirmation.
I listened to Ed Krenz on Mecums podcast, and he spoke about higher cylinder pressures for the DH coyote was why they needed the rods. Didn't elaborate much more, but I am thinking higher redline as well. There is a thread in the 5.0 coyote section about this too with links.
Another article eith Ed Krenz on Dark Horse Coyote
Another article where connecting rods and higher cylinder pressures are mentioned. No Camshaft changes are mentioned. What does higher cylinder pressure equate to, more rpm?
Here is the podcast from Mecum with Ed Krenz talking about the Dark...
They limited the Mach 1 appearance to FJG so that is probably a similar situation here. I think the interior part has blue accents, which is why its limited to the blues and black.
He also says it has forged pistons, and Ford doesn't mention that anywhere. Doesn't sound like he is correct.
If you go by Ed Krenz's quote, the only changes are the forged rods. Which is why I am hoping for a higher redline.
I would love to see more sources, as I cannot find any other than MT. The only other article that talks about the engine changes seems to point toward having the same camshafts. That was a quote by Ed Krenz, Chief Nameplate Engineer for the Mustang, that I posted at the beginning stating the...
I think the exhaust manifold changes are to both engines.
This thread is about the coyote engine differences between the two models. Here is the overall differences thread. https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/gt-or-dark-horse-the-important-differences.156327/
Right. Again, the article says the cams are not different. That is what i am wondering about. Even the Ford media website Dark Hoese release says nothing about different camshafts, only rods.
