My understanding is the Dark Horse from the factory has limiter set at 168 mph. Installeda Whipple from Ford and hit a wall at 5000rpm and 160 mph. I was in normal driving mode so could that be the issue or is something set incorrectly as a thought the limiter was disabled with supercharger installation?

I wish I lived in Montana.

Hey, wait, they re-enacted a daytime speed limit in 1999, didn't they?

(still wished I lived in Montana)

The stage 1 kit has a few different limiters. RPM is one of them......does not let you wind it out in WOT situations.

I agree with you, I also wish that I lived in Montana. At one time, the posted speed limit was "reasonable and prudent".

last i checked the speed limiter is on stage 1 is 140
i have not tested with the revised whipple 2026 tune
The limiter was never 140. I was to directly by Ford guys at the performance school that the GT was 149 and Dark Horse was 168. So please refrain from posting incorrect information or heresy. And I had a 24GT and can attest the limiter was 149.

He's not posting heresy or hearsay, it's from another poster who put the stage 1 kit on their GT, and to limited to 140 on track. One, four, zero.

The stage 1 kit did have its own, separate limit on it at one point, per whipple.

You are not correct and neither are they.

A10 GT no PP limiter is 145.
A10 GT PP/DH is 155
M6 DH is 166 - Not sure on GT PP M6
A10 and M6 Whipple cal for GT is 221
A10 RTR Whipple mustang cal is 155

I have all these tune files from Ford and Whipple. I can see the VSS airlimiters for all of them. I have to dig up more M6 files to look at, but most of the cars I see are A10 cars.

Also keep in mind with a tune you can change these top speed limiters.

Interesting but I had a 24 GT and through every mode it was 149 mph and the forum confirmed that number. Same forum said Dark Horse was 168 and can't attest personally to the number as only had enough space for 155 and limiter wasn't hit. Now with Whipple stage one hit 160 and a wall. So driving mode or gears aren't going to change that I take it?

Another thing you all dont realize is your calibrations for shift schedules for the a10 are not at redline or anywhere near it for the 8-9 and 9-10. For the whipple cal, its set to shift into 9th at 6171rpm and into 10th at 5244rpm. These are the shift schedules for wide open throttle-ish. About 65% throttle pedal or more. The RPM(OSS) is less as throttle pedal is less.

So if you are WOT foot to the floor in 8th going into 9th, then that happens at about 6200rpm and then 9th going into 10th at WOT happens around 5250rpm. You might not have had enough power to push that far at wot in 10th to be honest. Trans shift scheduling is all over the board in these calibrations. Not bad but there isnt a "this is how/when it will shift" static scenario.

These cars have a wide spectrum of shift schedules per mode, per pedal demand and per OSS (output shaft speed) that determine when they shift. That all plays into top speed.

I'll add my 24 was stock, no modifications. So top speed my be at a lesser gear?
