Wanted some advice. I swapped out wheels as soon as I got my car. Shortly thereafter I noticed that one of the tire sensors was not being read.
was going to take it back and it started working again.
It randomly errors and says it’s not working only to go back to normal.

Im sure the sensor was damaged when they swapped them from the stock rims. Is there a way to know exactly what type of sensor is used so I can buy a replacement and have them replace it?

May even be a failing battery. My son has an Avalon that he got from grandpa that was doing the same thing shortly after a tire swap. Turns out grandpa was just cheap and didn't replace the TPMS sensors, so one by one all of the sensors have started to do that. It was a coincidence that it happened after tire change.

I brought my GT in for the BCM recall and left with a failed TPMS sensor. Young tech tried 3 times to reprogram it, telling me it was a new car and shouldn't have failed. I agreed, but sometimes shit happens and it was actually just a bad sensor. It's possible the wheel swap was a coincidence and it just crapped out on its own.

I've had the same thing happen a couple times and I realized it was because I had a metal cotter pin in that little compartment where you put your phone to charge.. .. and once I removed the small metal cotter pin the car went back to normal after showing a failed tire sensor on the front right passenger side.... Coincidence maybe but then again maybe not....

I got a random "tire pressure sensor fault" alert on my car's gauge screen followed by that low tire pressure exclamation point alert. Tires were fine but the random alert was annoying as heck.

I took it to a local non-chain tire shop and they checked all four tires. All tires showed ok except for the drivers front - their reader device could not obtain a reading on it. I had a choice; go to the dealer under warranty (and deal with all the dealer nonsense) or have the tech replace the tire pressure sensor on the spot for a hundred bucks. I opted for on the spot and 20 minutes later back on the road good as new. They had a sensor on hand and I doubt it was a Ford product. I generally only want to use Ford products but I took a chance and all has been fine.

The tech said that the tire pressure sensors generally last for a long time then the battery dies so in my case it was kind of an anomaly. Sounds like in your case since you swapped wheels perhaps it was related or just happened go out like mine.
