Dark Horse premium allocation?

Yes - basically a dealer can order a car whenever they want, but it will not actually be pulled from the system and built until they have an allocation.

I went to the three biggest dealers in my area and none had an allocation.

There was no reason for them to mislead me on that and lose a sale.

One even flat out said they could order one for me but it would be a MY 2027 vehicle and I wouldn't see it before August 2026 or so.

Thanks for confirming, I've ordered a couple of Corvettes in my life and those work on an allocation basis as well, same story, any dealer will take your order but then it will sit there until they get an allocation. I was fortunate to work with good dealers where they put me on a list, but I didn't have to give them anything, not even a deposit. Once they got an allocation and my turn came up, then we placed the order against the allocation. I have a friend who didn't go to the dealer I told him to go to, they took his order, said they had an allocation (they didn't) so his order took from the time he placed the ordered until he got it, nine months. My 23 Corvette I ordered middle of February, it came in the end of April, it was delayed for 3 weeks due to a parts shortage otherwise it would have been in sooner. Haven't ordered a Ford before, so glad you guys confirmed it works the same way, need an allocation to get the order placed and expect delivery in a reasonable time.

If anyone knows of a dealer in the midwest that still has an allocation for a Dark Horse premium let me know, willing to place an order at this point and drive a bit to pick it up. Been searching online on all kinds of sources (autotrader, cars.com, Ford.com, etc) and can't find one close enough to buy in a color and spec I want (red or adriatic blue with a 6 speed, handling pack and non-Recaro's). I would consider Vapor blue if I found one close enough.

Try Packey Webb Ford in West Chicago. I’m almost certain Long McArthur in Kansas can order it. Catch their weekly YouTube scheduling videos. Great info.

If you also want it with painted stripes and red calipers, I ordered the same car for 2 dealers and both dealers got a VIN on the same day. North Alabama. Because it has a VIN and is scheduled they couldn't cancel it. I don't think the could change the order either.

If you also want it with painted stripes and red calipers, I ordered the same car for 2 dealers and both dealers got a VIN on the same day. North Alabama. Because it has a VIN and is scheduled they couldn't cancel it. I don't think the could change the order either.

And here I am a month of waiting for a VIN. It seems the last run of Dark Horses was April 18 and my order was placed April 21. Bad timing. Hopefully this Thursday.

My local dealer told me they didn't have an allocation and didn't know if they would get another for the 2026 MY, but then I worked with them to buy a Bronco Sport for my wife off the lot and they said they made a call to Ford and told me if I put in an order it would get picked up and built... I asked if that meant they got an allocation and they were oddly vague in answering that directly, but picked up the phone to call "their Ford rep" (whatever that means) and confirmed with me on speaker phone that if I put in an order they would get it scheduled.

So I did... at A/Z plan pricing. I never got a confirmation email, but today, it got scheduled for the first week of August. I called Ford Performance and they told me the scheduled build week and gave me the VIN today. Now I owe the dealer an apology for doubting them.

Congrats. I have had an order in since late April and it still has not scheduled. The dealer says they have no idea why and have no control.

Did you get the appearance package? I think black painted roof has limited production right now.

It also depends on how far you are willing to go. Here is the Dallas area there are a number of them on the lots. I'm not sure how quickly they could get something ordered if you don't like what you see, but there are options here. Plus that drive down from the Twin Cities is pretty.

I've been able to find some on lots, but all the ones I can find are 800-1200 miles away from me. I want a handling package car without a bunch of other options, in red, grabber blue, or adriatic blue. Might consider a vapor blue car or white car, but the rest of the colors don't interest me.

I got shadow Black. I really like the way it accents the stripes and tones down the eyebrows. Only problem is it's the hardest to keep clean but they are worth it when clean.
