@Cipis After eleven years the PPF on my 2011 was still protecting. It was a top quality product at the time (Xpel). My cars are always garaged but I did notice some slight discoloring. Newer products have been introduced that have far greater improvements and that is what I wanted.
Removing the old was time consuming. Trial and error with steam, different products and plenty of plastic razor blades. Maybe it would come off easier if it wasn't on so long. It doesent come off like YouTube lets you believe.
The first paint chip will make you wish you had the PPF. Make sure you you get a very experienced installer that is certified.

Is applying ceramic on the ppf necessary?
Its not necessary, but it prevents etching from bird poop and has UV protection that prevents yellowing over time. The Cermaic I used is specifically made for PPF.

Oh. I want to ask you... If garaged, not so much exposed to sun on regular basis, would you remove it after 10 years really? I was thinking 7 to keep it on. If 10 years would last ok, I would reconsider re-apply new one….

How bad was it to remove in your case? Did the glue separated ?
Todays PPF is light years better than the old stuff. If you keep your car garaged and its not your daily, It should last you well past 10 years. And no, its not hard to remove. But let your installer do it they have a whole process.

I already have it in ppf from day 1. Just thinking for future.. and I know it could get difficult to remove if low quality or exposed for long to sun time. So far I do not regret the ppf. Other way around rather. Hope it last the 10 years, would be great.

That would be awesome. I have actually 10 years warranty on it. However was not sure. I think the ceramic make sense to prolong its life…?

I daily my car so I want maximum protection. I already had a spot where bird poop etched a ring in the PPF on the hood before I got the cermaic on it.

Im a big proponent of profesional cermaic (not the fake spray shit). Once you get Cermaic and understand what it is and its benefits, there's no turning back. The extra layer of protection keeps contaminates off the finish, give UV protection, and makes cleaning a breeze with very little maintenance. No more waxing and polishing. Once you do the initial polish and put cermaic down, the car stays looking that way. Even when its dirty it still shines. If you keep your car garaged it will last for years. The only downside it the price. Find a certified detailer as its easy to mess up if you dont know what your doing. Fortunately I have a detail friend that gives me friend pricing and know his stuff. Id say its well worth the investment if you plan on keeping your car, and it adds to the resale value if you go and sell too.

It makes it bead up nice so I do mine
I agree! I do my own ceramic coating, spray bottle, and have been doing it from the beginning. The bottle cost me $20.00, and I've done my car four times and still have a third of a bottle remaining. The water appears to almost stand up; it beads so well. The best part is not only water doesn't stick or leave marks but bird poop doesn't either! Glenn

Here is a pic of my right rear quarter panel, on Mar 29, after using the spray on ceramic coating. I think it does a good job!

That's why I've done it four times. But it is very easy and certainly inexpensive. I could have done it less often and still had a nice finish. I will probably get six applications out of this bottle and gladly pay another $20! Glenn

Are you applying the spray when wet before final dry off or after drying? With wet or dry micro fiber?
