Honestly guys, these engines are reliable, make a ton of power, but they generally do not sound good. They just don't. Dodge, Chevy, and older Ford V8s all sound better.

I agree with last part of that statement.

OK, I'm not up with all the Mustang lore. So the Voodoo is a flat plane design? I haven't heard one, but I don't like flat plane Ferraris and such. They sound like a 2 x 4's at low revs, and the high rev scream is OK, but it is just noise, not music. I prefer distinctive exhaust notes that tell you what is making it.

Yeah, that's OK. You can tell it's a V8. The others must have a different firing order as well.
The exhaust layout is different as well

GT350 never did anything for me, doesn't compare to the Z06 or 458.

Always sounded like a Coyote crossed with a Subaru.

I'm not saying they all sound terrible, but most of them just don't sound good. The owners are in that stage of louder = better.

Everyone knows it except Mustang owners.

If they did, people wouldn't make videos with titles like that.

I will agree that a stock 6.4 Hemi sounds better at idle than a 5.0, but the 5.0 sounds better under load - and not just volume. Stock GM V8s have sounded neutered to me for decades

As for videos on exhaust "builds" every car group has them and they all are ridiculous IMO. The sound over computer speakers NEVER sounds like real life. Maybe its just my crappy hearing lol.

I'm not a huge fan of what they end up doing to most of their cars on that channel exhaust-wise. They're obsessed with those dumb megaphones for some reason.

Or crappy computer speakers? Or crappy phone mic used to record it.

So obviously the coyote is a world-class motor and if you have a minute to spare you should watch this vid I linked for some amazing facts about it. The only downside about the coyote cars to me is, the firing order causes the exhaust to sound well, "not right" regardless of your combinations as compared to old Windsor and the modular family engines.

Or is that just old man ranting? Anyone who had a gen-1 mustang looked at a foxbody and said "that's not a mustang." Same with most fox owners regarding the new edge. But in time, they got accepted, the old-timers went away and their cars rotted into the earth.

So idk. It seems kind of ridiculous to reject an amazing machine over an old fox, Termi or modular s197 GT500 over an exhaust note from 16 years ago.

Thoughts? TIA preesh

How the 5.0 Coyote Saved The Ford Mustang
At the age of 77, I have to disagree. I've had many muscle/sports cars over the years, and my Mustang is without a doubt one of the best sounding cars I've ever owned. Even my wife, who isn't into cars, always tells me how great it sounds when I pull out of our driveway. Personally, I think it sounds better than the 2 C7 Corvette Z06's I've owned. As others have said, you can always quiet down the exhaust or modify it to make it louder. :like:

I've owned a lot of cars, a 6.4L SRT JGC being one of them. it sounded alright but the mustang sounds much better. I had a 2014 ZL1 as well, and yeah, the mustang still sounds better.

Outside of a mercedes/AMG V8, The coyote v8 is the best sounding attainable v8 on the market. Ford did an amazing job with the active valve exhaust, and outside of doing headers so I stop melting cats, I have zero desire to fuck with the exhaust on this car.

This morning I saw an s197 5.0 and must admit it sounded pretty good; probably had flowmasters and a cat delete midpipe from back before they welded them to the manifolds

Also if you have a whiny enough supercharger that's the primary sound although kids nowadays want a quiet one and don't even get me started on that. I think the sleeper pack Whipple is silent.

This whole argument of manual boils down to your capabilities. I have driven manuals for over 50 years, of course I want a manual. But at my age my left leg doesn't work like before. So the only way to enjoy an S650 is automatic or nothing. When criticizing people for choosing an automatic you may not know their back story.
