Sounds like Sam Elliott which is a comforting voice to me; guess I'm just old.

At the beginning when he said "the 4.6 was a dog" I always bust out laughing; the tragedy of that engine was kiddos wanted fast off the showroom floor a la the F-bodies but a CAI/tune combo and shorter gears made a huge difference for not much work or monies. Too much effort I guess. Damn shame.
LOL I'm 51 so I'm the youngest of the old people......

But Ive owned almost every gen of Mustang- had a 67 GT500... 66 GT350....fox bodies ......96 Cobra.... New Edge GTs.......and a few Coyote cars (last was an S550 PP1 A10)

I always loved the way the Coyote sounded ......

Yeah when Ford first moved from the old school 5.0 to the 4.6 I was thinking what in the world....but now that I see the finished product ...the Coyote .....Im happy they did.....

Yeah ppl were hollering for a 5.0 DOHC since the 4.6 non-PI 2v flop and it only took them what, 16 years to give us one? Lol

Well if you owned a 67 to a fox you can def appreciate this anecdote although I'm sure yours were later years when they started to work things out

I disagree with the video. The Coyote is the best-sounding Mustang, and I grew up in the 80s with a lot of exposure to V8s with different sounds. I wouldn't replace the racecar sound of the modern 5.0 with anything.

The 4.6 had no chance against the LS1 unless you boosted it.

You could easily do 450rwhp with heads/cam/intake on the LS1 back then. All the parts are better now so you can 500rwhp.

"supposed to sound like". 🤣

Learn something new almost every day in the forum. 👍

Gosh durn kids, and their new fangled five point oh engines! Jee zus! Think they're all bad elbow 'cause they got more'n wun cam in their five point oh! And the durn thing has the cams on top; NOT on the bottom?! Everyone knows reel men drive v8s with solid lifters (because it's fun to adjust your valve train every 2000 miles) 'n they sound like V 8s are "supposed to sound!" 😉

Richie, I agree. I had a yellow 1979 replete with a 2.3L suck-thru turbo. The only sound improvement I made was to open up the hood scope. The turbo whine was then loud enough, that nearby drivers looked over. Under a bridge, it was extra whiny. If only the power matched, but it did not—alas!

The sound of the coyote motor was the first thing that got me to consider a Mustang.

Aftermarket mufflers/cat-backs ruin the sound of any Mustang.

"Not right" Lol. The Coyote sounds different and distinctive and badass.

I will say the the 4.6 modular with axel backs did sound like beast despite being a dog though.

Honestly guys, these engines are reliable, make a ton of power, but they generally do not sound good. They just don't. Dodge, Chevy, and older Ford V8s all sound better.

I'm not saying they all sound terrible, but most of them just don't sound good. The owners are in that stage of louder = better.

Everyone knows it except Mustang owners.

If they did, people wouldn't make videos with titles like that.

Thanks for the link. I assume these exhaust trumpets are fabricated in-house by the shop because tbh this is the first I've heard of them; then again my past Mustangs were a 5.0 Windsor and my current 4.6 3v and bolt on exhaust sounded perfect.
