Oh, thank god it's affordable. I was worried for a moment there. How many should I get? Anyone else want one while I'm up?
I guess I'll take one if you're buying!

I would’ve kept the 911.
my alternate to the dark horse 2024 build was the 2014-2016 911 carrera s or preferably 4s. last of the NA. Both of which are selling for 20k more(with higher mileage) this year. 🤦 At least my back seats are more comfortable for the kids.

I made the same mistake and so did my dad … my dad had a 73 911 S that he sold in early 90s for like 12k lol now it’s like a 300k car … I almost bought an air cooled 911 … I think it was an 87… G50 transmission.. only like 40k miles about 4 years ago or maybe 5 … but it was at a Porsche dealer … pristine for like 28k lol 😂 I should have bought it

Guys, I love me some Mustangs, I do. Nothing sounds better. But be realistic for a minute. For less than $80 large + shipping you can get a 2026 C8 with the Z51 package. It is NA, weighs substantially less than the SC, puts up 2.8/11.1/185 and would embarrass the SC badly at the track. And with the track designed Z51 package it’ll do that lap after lap without collapsing from a heatstroke.

If you’re looking at sheer performance for the dollar I don’t see how there’s a whole lot to think about. Unless you just wanna stick with a Mustang, which I get. If that’s the case I’d strongly advise thinking about a DH with the handling package. I’ve had two and they’re wonderful cars.

I would’ve kept the 911.
I would have kept it but at 6 ft 4 and aged 76 with HORRIBLE knees (knee replacement is loose in my left knee) and right one is a mess, I just could not get out of the car. My GT is 80% of the fun and a 1/3 of the price. I really should have kept my super roomy Scat Pack Challenger...

Which route would you go?

For the price they are asking for the Dark Horse SC with the Track package, one can buy a Mustang GT Premium with a PP and buy a Mustang Dark Horse™ R Race Car which they actually have a class for.

Just saying -

Then why not just get a GT with a whipple for half the price?
We forget that for many buyers GT with what ever options is not the same as DH-SC. It is all about the bragging rights at car shows and C+C meets and having something special with limited production numbers.

Just like the original Ford-GT that had MSRP of ~140K when it came out are now collector cars, I bet that a fully optioned from factory DH-SC will be in years to come collector vehicles with super high bids at car auctions.

We forget that there are more people around the globe that have the means to purchase cars above 200K and beyond. They probably would look at custom GT or DH vehicles and LOL. BTW- I am sure that Ford is very happy to make the boutique ponies at limited production numbers for the many around the globe that have the means to buy these machines.

Car and Driver also supposedly "confirmed" with Ford pricing, but it's different prices.
supposedly the basemodel is $108,485 and the track pack is $144,985, but no word on the track pack special edition. given these are different numbers being reported, i am even more suspicious now of what's true

I didn't do the math, but those look like the previous MSRP posted plus the destination and dealer buy in added?

Ford is being tricky with the numbers. When GT500 came out the number reported everywhere was $73,995 which INCLUDED GG Tax and D&D

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2020-ford-mustang-shelby-gt500-first-drive-changes-everything

This time, they say it starts at $103,490 with an asterisk that it doesn't include these, so the actual number, apples to apples is:

2020 GT500 ($70,300 PLUS $2,600 GG PLUS $1,095 D&D)= $73,995
2022 GT500 ($74,555 PLUS $2,600 GG PLUS $1,195 D&D) = $78,350
2026 DHSC ($103,490 PLUS $3,000 GG PLUS $1,995 D&D) = $108,485

Nailed it, as always.

Did your dealer principal or sales manager not get the letter from Ford on the program, which included pricing?
